    Follow the instructions:

    1) Install RTW
    2) Install BI
    3) Check your version number, if it's 1.3 in RTW and/or 1.4 in BI install the BI1.6 patch (this is not the RS mod)
    4) Check your version again it should now read 1.5 in RTW and 1.6 BI
    5) Install RS1.6 to the RTW folder (where the exe is)
    6) Install RS1.6a to the RTW folder (where the exe is)

Your BI is not a 1.6 BI and you are not applying the BI1.6 patch, so I say again please follow the instructions as indicated.

Did you forget some fixes for the 1turn recruitment files? Reason i ask is because Legio VII Gemina still had "and not hidden resource home".

Thanks for making this patch...i'm debating whether it makes sense to install, as I just spent the best part of last week moding the descr_strat.txt file...making the starting armies and funds of all factions much more difficult (doing this since RTW came out). I then started my fav faction Greece...and well, its a good challenge and really don't want to start a new campaign with this and the fact 2.0 is coming...I pray.

Squid you do great work, and have truly taken the game to another level...are we all waiting more than month here? Or should I suck it up, an just start over again because it will be much more longer?...

Info on the game play, as i have seem them doing all my try`s,

"This is in no way to say it was done bad, its just info, that may help others".

Carthago was way to weak, Spain always took land in Gaul.
Gaul attacked wrong citys, and got to weak.

Syracuse was to strong, always kicked Carthago out of Sisilia.

    Greek was to weak.
And Seleucia was very week always got killed very fast.

    Germans was to weak.
    Darcia was to weak.

I mean they never ever got the land they normal ended up with.

    Pergamun was to strong.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So very soon i changed Gaul Dacia and Greek, later Syracus ,and Carthago.

But still there was to many poblems.
I like to play as the Romans, and i do want to fight the nations that Rome did, so i had to find a way.
To make the nation that was great enemys of Rome stronger.
And the reason i say this now, is becourse i belive i did it.
After much testing, i belive that its now how it most be.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now some info on what i have changed.
If other players need/want the files that i changed.

    Changes made to Macedon-Greek-Epirot-Dacia.

Naissus 50% chance Marcedon take that city, and 50% that Dacia take it.
    before it was like 75%-25%.
Herma 50% Epirot take, 50% macedon take.
If Naissus have been taken by Dacia , it changes to 33%-33%-33% Epirot-Macedon-Dacia.

Corinth 20% chance that Greek win that city.
Athens 20% chance that Macedon take it.
Most time they will stay at war very long time. (but not realy get any where)

    Chalcis the Island near Athens.
33% Macedon can keep it, 33% Greek take it, 33% Pergamun take it.
If Greek take it there is a 50% chance that they also take Ephesus (city near pergamun)
If they do war will be on going.
with a 50% chance that they keep both.
And 50% chance that Pergamun take then both.

Pergamun changes are made to Seleucid.

    Sardis-Ipsus-Apanea-Laodicea.
Will still always be lost to Pergamun, but take much longer, we talk 35-40 turns.
Witch give a good econ boost to Seleucid.

    Ptolemaic_Seleucid.
Sidon-Tyrus will now change hands many times doing first 30-35 turns.
    witch they did.

Land block "Ptolemaic-Carthago realy needed, to keep Ptolemaic`s focus on Seleucid".

    Parthian-Seleucid.

Arsakia 100% Parthian take it doing max 5-6 turns.
Karmana 50% chance that they also take that city.

But after that Seleucid is able to hold them back, not for ever.

But again that give Selucid a chance to build up the main land.

    Syracusian-Carthago

Syracuse was to strong, they now only start with 1 city.
    And less army size.
There is 50% chances on both citys that they take it.
Agrigentum-Catana. ( ill still try to make that 25%-75%)
Messana is now changed to Free(Briton)
So that city wont be taken before Rome are ready.
Mellite (Malta) will 75% be taken by Syracuse, 100% sure be attacked.
But becourse the changes Carthago will have a lot bigger chance on Sisilia.
And they have time to build up citys+ army.

    Gaul:
Some changes to citys Free canged with free(Briton)
To make Gaul attack the right citys, and also to keep Spain out of Gaul.
before there was 90% chance that Spain tool land in Gaul, with made them to strong for Carthago.
Its now max 10% chance that they will take citys in Gaul.
This to help Carthago a lot.

    Germans:
    Few city+Army changes.
they will now have a fair chance to end up with the land they normal ended up with.

    Dacia:
Few city+army changes same as the Germans, and they to have a fair chance to get the land the ended up with in real history.

    Romans:
    Just litle army changes.
Just so they dont get runned over buy Epirot.
That will always make them end up with all Italy, but it still take long time.
Land bridge" Croton-Messana" is needed of ai.

Parthian a few army units added.

Money changes to nearly all nations (Starting money)

The testing is done 50 times with Romans.
with all map vision on, to see how it plays out.
40 times was played till year 500.
10 of the times untill 510.
And 5 times till year 525.

5 times played as Spain or Greek, to see how it go with Roman Ai.

So far it all looks great, only the land block, and land bridge are still needed.

I hope its the right place i have put this info.
And that other players will make use of this, untill nr 2 comes out

Ps: If someone can help with land block + the land bridge ill be real happy.

"Change things take litle time- Testing it takes forever"

If someone like to have the files please say it here, so i can ask for the right place to add them, or upload them.
I expect great new things in this mod

I have been asking Ragnarok to make the last files.
    To put land block Carthago-Egypt.
Open nile delta to force egypt (old name) to build there huge fleet.
Take away the land bridge from Spain to Africe, also to force Carthago to build more fleet.
(and the option to have a land bridge from Italy to sicilia)
That just to help the Roman AI.
If or when he does it, ill post it as a sub-mod for RS1.6a with all modded files.
If i dont get it this week, ill download the program to do it my self.

So i hope in any way, that this sub-mod will be up by Monday.
I expect great new things in this mod

Hey squid, did i see that you might (maybe) try to put out a final 1.6a patch? ie 1.6b before 2.0 comes out. (that would be cool) if you could make the time.

Do you need to install it to the RTW folder?

    Actually, a little bit.

I'm playing H/H RS 1.6a on Alexander (better AI and night battles) as Carthage.

I've conquest all Spain (apart for two settlements), all coast in north Africa (from Morocco to Tunisia, I've just lost one useless city under Tunisia). All Sicily is mine! And now I've kicked out Romans from Taranto.
And Romans sent a lot of their armies to kick me out, but no way my Carthage is too strong!!!

So from my experience I can give you my impression:

    - Romans are too weak! Isn't RS a mod dedicated to Rome??? (I'm speaking about Republican period) Or maybe is Carthage too strong?? Playing Carthage (H/H) I feel like God in this mod!! Is this normal?

    - Always speaking about Romans, their generals are too stupid!!! Usually I send my cavalry alone to the sides of the Roman Legions to confuse them, so they loose their order.
At this point the General with his cavalry charge me alone!!! I think it's crazy!! Guys I had always a lot of cavalry troups, and the General charge me alone??? He should try to protect himself between Triarii and Principes, not charge me!!
So especially in the battles against Romans it's too easy. Their general always dies at the beginning...Please fix this problem!
For example when I fought the Iberian armies it was more challenging, because usually they have more cavalry than the Romans, so I could not do what I want on the battlefield with mine.

    - At the contrary the settlement management is challenging in RS, I had many difficulties to control Iberian ones.

My two posts are not identical.

However I would like if someone could reply to my impressions, to have a sort of confrontation about RS and last patch. But probably everybody is waiting for RS II and nobody is interesting in RS 1.6.
I think it's really really sad.

If my presence on this forum is a problem, I'll never post here again.

I bet he doesn't. You know Squid is the one that usually fix most bugs and releases the patches.
I think you need to be a little more respectful toward guys that gives up there spare time to help others.

Thing is RS 1.6a wont likely get another patch. RS 1.5 was supposed to be the last of the RS 1 version, but we actually patched it no less than 3 times (a, b and c) and even after that we decided to add more to it by releasing RS 1.6. Sadly some bugs had slipped through our testings and we released a little patch to RS 1.6 (a).

Now nobody had demanded any more from RS 1 when we made RS 1.6. We did that because we wanted to support it even after the fact that we had a really stable mod in 1.5c.
We did it because we want to give our fans the best experience there is.
However we can't be expected to keep releasing further updates when all of our focus lies in finishing RS 2.0.

Heck many fans was a bit sour about us spending time making RS 1.6.

So to give you an answer. No we wont likely release another RS 1 patch. RS 1.6a is already one of the most stable mods out there for RTW. That the game might be a bit easy for the player is because it was built years ago and thus didn't have all the experienced moders that RS 2 have during it foundation. It would take months to rebalance RS 1.6a using the knowledge we have used building RS 2.0.

If you play the game and keep yourself from breaking he house rules RS 1.6a should be quite the difficult, but if you don't then sure it will be easier.

@Apple: Maybe you have misunderstood my words. I love this mod! I think it's great!!!

I just give my opinion, and I'm glad that you are working hard on RS II. When I wrote "nobody is interesting in RS 1.6", I didn't refer to RS team, but to players like me. I think sharing our impression (between players) could be good. And it can help you (RS team) to create a better RS II.

But probably the other players are waiting RS II. This is sad! Not that you are working on RS II. It's normal that you are focused on that. I agree with you, RS 1.6 doesn't need other updates, and I confirm that it's very stable.

However I don't understand exactly what you mean when you write
If you play the game and keep yourself from breaking he house rules RS 1.6a should be quite the difficult, but if you don't then sure it will be easier.
