What do you mean you miss them, that you don't have them in ETW? If so I don't know why, because I have them often.
Well we have seen 2 screenshots with separate river battles, so fear not good sir.

bridges will make their return (although they once occured in etw saw it on a youtube vid) so we might get a bridge map for custom battles

the AI in ETW never used the bridge to cross the river.
my first battle on a river map (campaign): I saw the bridge and positioned all of my troops at the bridge. the AI was turning around facing the other side of the river. i thought its just a bad BAI thing and waited at the bridge, and suddenly i realized that there was a second location where the river could be crossed

I have seen the AI use the bridge and the crossing at the same time on several occasions.

Yes, me to. I tend to use them as bottlenecks when fighting for example melee units such as swordsmen

Bridges in ETW would be difficult to hold. Youd need melee units, and even then, they would be a giant target for artillery.

Unless you made you line infantry into a u formation at the end of the bridge...

Canister shot, with howitzers behind and rifles on the flanks, time the firing right adn you get a constant barrage of lead...

yeah in ETW we never really could reenact 60 elephant artillery vs 4000 aztecs on one bridge.

yeah ive seen a few bridge battles but theres only really one set up which is a bridge and a ford, which annoys me, why would there be a ford few yards up the river from every bridge in the world?

on RTW/M2TW i could hold a single bridge with a single regiment, i tried it on ETW and they just got outflanked.

Well thats the whole point. Holding 1 point is too easy. I only wish there were MORE fords that could be crossed to make it even more challenging and tactical.

Some fords should have an island in the middle, as a nice extra feature, also as the defender the main thing that pisses me of is not being able to deploy directly in front of the bridge but a little way of to the left...

I actually did have a battle in ETW where it was on a river with a bridge. I cover both the fjord and the bridge. The AI actually sent one group (cavalry) to attack my men on the fjord and some of its troops on to the bridge!

They never came off the bridge though because my arty with canister was waiting for them. Not a pretty sight.
