Thread: MagCore.dll?

  1. #1

    Default MagCore.dll?

I've recently come to realize my Med 2 will not play because of a missing MagCore.dll

Any ideas how to rectify this problem would be appreciated.

I don't know what you want it for since it isn't Medieval2 or Windows but here is a link I pulled off Google: http://www.topshareware.com/mag-core...ownloads/1.htm

I had to look that up as well as I've never even heard of it. If this page is to be believed it is a library file for ArcSoft products. Do any of those programs look familiar to you? You really shouldn't need it for M2....

Neither link was helpful, I'm afraid.

I don't know why I would need the file. I just know every time I try to start Med 2, it says I'm missing the file and doesn't start.

Would you mind letting us in on why?

Edit: http://www.arcsoft.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1429. Did you register the product?

That's the best find so far. Good catch irish.

To the OP: did you recently install software related to a digital camera on your system? It might be as simple as plugging a camera card into your system to download pictures....

I don't know why I keep getting this. It's not a ripped game, it's been registered.

The best way is to change the the target in your Medieval2 icon from launcher.exe to medieval2.exe. Your Arcsoft software is taking over all launchers besides its own.

Agreed. It seems that this particular .dll has caused problems with other programs in the past. Here's two links I dug up regarding MagCore.dll errors:

    http://getsatisfaction.com/vreveal/t..._exe_etc_error

    http://forums.pcworld.com/index.php?...ication-error/

I also saw a link (that I didn't save unfortunately) about looking for ArcSoft drivers in the Windows Common Files folder in your Windows Folder. Some people have had luck in just removing those entirely and then running a reg cleaner to clean up the last bit of old codecs left behind.

For whatever reason you either have (or have had in the past) a product from ArcSoft on that system and it is now interfering with other programs. If you could provide more info about that it might help. Good luck!

hi, I just started getting this magcore dll error quite often, tried all your suggestions with no luck so far...after reading about this error on google, it was advised to reinstall .NET (didn't help), reinstalling the Med 2 at least 2 times now didn't help either and as far as I understand from various support posts including microsoft's (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/magcoredll-missing/808cb305-c984-4780-8690-1bcc8631ae) on this magcore dll of Arcsoft is either missing or corrupted - since it isn't missing, I guess it is corrupted, in that case I need to find a 'fresh' magcore dll file from a safe source - can anyone recommend where I can find a SAFE source to download it from? After doing that I understand from this support post (magcore dll) that the file needs to be re-registered in Windows, the big question in that case is - how do I do that...?

    What do you Arcsoft for?

As an aside - I've seen advice that suggests that searching your system for those .dll files and copying them into the Windows\System 32 folder helps to solve the problem. If using a Steam or other download version of the game then copy those .dll files into the main Steam folder as well for good measure - anything to make sure that they're somewhere in the environment path. Good luck!
