    Default Sprites Glorious Sprites

    EVEN NEWER RELEASE!!!
    Hey just added some more sprites. Boarboyz were missing so i added them. Savage orcs were missing sprites so i added them as well. Added border princes units sprites which were missing. SO hope you enjoy
    If you downloaded the old one just overwrite with the new one.

    I don't understand what is sprites.

    I like how it sound glorious,but i don't know how to use that sprites and what exactly they improve.

    You can can clarifying the situation ?

    I imagine what can be but i am not sure,or i can be wrong in what i think.

    Even translator don't translate this word "sprites"
    Maybe a picture is the best choice.He can say more than a thousand words.

    Ah, sprites are what the game uses when the models are far away. Sprites usually means small images, and it's precisely that.

    However, the game renders 3D completely, meaning full animations, and faces/axes are moving, and use up the games processing speed (slowing it down). However, using sprites, means that the game doesn't show 3D models when you are too far away to get benefit of them. I.e seeing a 4 pixel high unit in high def 3D is a waste of power, instead, it's shown a image of a lower quality to speed up the game.

    You can use anything to show the sprites - for example, Chaos Marauders, when you are far away, look like Highlanders. However, this mod changes that look to be like marauders.

    Ah, sprites are what the game uses when the models are far away.
    That i understand without problem.

    Thx for explaining me.

    P.S. by the way...is a great improvement,because always i was irritated by the models without this "sprites"

    Yea....glorious....

    I just messed my game with this sprites.I replaced files without making copy of originals,and now my game CTD every time when i try to enter.

    Is the second time when i mess my mod with mini-mods,and third time when i will need to reinstal.

    As i told...GLORIOUS!!!

    well if you had mini-mods installed that used modeldb file this mini-mod would mess it up, since it replaces modeldb. This mini-mod is meant for the COW 1.02 and english translation, thats all i got on my version of COW i didnt add anything else. So any CTDs probably have to do with any other mini-mod you have.
    If you don't have any mini-mods then did u follow the instructions i put in the Readme?

    I also got CTDs upon loading the game. Fortunately I made a backup of battle_models.modeldb and was able to restore.
    The mod sounds great though.

    Wierd. I dont see what could be going wrong. The ONLY files i edited were modeldb and i added the spr files to the unit_sprite folder, though i don't see how they could cause CTD without replacing anything. That leaves modeldb as the likely culprit behind your CTDs, i just dont see why it would CTD for u and not me. Unless it's something to do with the english patch which is the only difference i can see between my COW and yours.
    Also first line of Readme is backup your modeldb so did u skip any other steps?

    Best idea is sometimes to upload a generic file as well as the modded one

    Yep and theres also some empire units with the wrong sprites. Massive thanks though, sprites are the absolute worst and most annoying task in medieval2, kudos.

    The only file that this minimod overwrites is the battle_models.modeldb file in the unit_models folder. The sprite files themselves don't overwrite anything since they are brand new and COW doesn't have sprites for many of it's units yet.

    I am a bit naive on this but if the sprites don't exists in the vanilla COW, than yours are merged or added into the unit_sprites folder?

    I take it the files are extracted into tuetonic/ data folder? and not unit_sprites folder?

    Just checking up on all this before I give it a try. I like to be very sure of where it goes and what files are affected/ or what new files are added.

    I like to be very pendantic and thorough on things like this.
