Well, as to the south is the biggest faction, the Arche Seleukia, you have to expand into other directions. I started conquering the two cities north of Almavir (Kotais and Mtskheta). Then I had enough money to build the infrastructure of Almavir and finally build level 1 Government. After that I took Kabalaka. You need a good relationship with the Saka Rauka, because you need a safe northern border. Then you need a bit luck, because if the Seleukids do not have troubles on other borders, they destroy you easily. SometimesI give Parthia, Baktria and Pontos money with a cheat, because they build full stack armies, run out of money and dont move their armies. As soon as they get money they really fight AS. In my opinion it is not cheating, but "powerhousing" (for information look for Quintus Sertorius guide), to keep the campaign more historical (Armenia actually wasnt destroyed by AS because independent Satrapies like Baktria Pontos or Parthia kept it busy).

My fault, I was talking about the Sauromatae. It's important to ally with them because with the as your allies the northern border of the Caucasus is secure. They always accepted a truce and trade rights at the campaign start, and a few turns later they accepted an alliance.

Don't rely too much on that alliance, with RTW Ai you might find them turning on you the moment they get a shot if they are not tied down in a war already. Or they might even if they are.

Haha, normally this is true. OP you are lucky though that the Sauros are north of you. This will cause them to turn on you last. AI turns south last, north first. Ask the CA programmers for more details.

Don't go north, though, there aren't much resources to find there. You might want to ship an army to Crimea and take the two Hellenic cities there. They're good for trade and get you Bosphoran Archers and more Hoplites (in addition to the ones at Sinope and Trapezous).

Take Hayasdan to restore the First Persian Empire or take Pahlava to create a second Persian empire.

A good summary - short, clear and obviously right.
My choice would be Hayasdan. Related to the old persian nobility, reforms based on the restoration of the old empire plus more and better infantry similar to the Achaemenid empire.

p.s. and to make some shameless advertising: You can play another mod called "Rise of Persia" to create the first persian empire as King Cyrus from 559 bc onwards.

Yes, I have the mod. It's great. But it doesn't have the scripted gameplay of EB .
And about the alliance: I am playing with Alex.exe and the Sauromatae didn't break the alliance yet. They simply aren't interested in conquering the Caucasus. And their war with the Pahlava keeps them busy.
