I was listening to a lecture this morning on the Jubal Early's campaign to the fortifications around Washington and coming off the lecture yesterday about Fergaguts (sp?) attack on Modile, I had the idea that you could use forts outside the cities to create a more realistic representation of what happened in the CW. Cause really, most sieges occurred on the fortifications guarding the cities.

    Just an idea.

go siege warfare in the eastern regions, more open in the Mississippi valley. Make the Appalachians all but unpassable except through the Cumberland Gap

Make the Mississippi river naviagble up to St. Louis, have Kansas be prone to loyalist revolts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleeding_Kansas), create the Apache as a seperate faction at war with both the Union and Confederacy. Try to create a ZOR for specific elite units (a la the historical legions in Roma Surrectum)

Well to bad about the nation but its your mod.

But yea its better if there where fort and trenches (if there where trenches of course).

And are you gona make new buldings for the cities??

But having other nation playable will be like.... imagin having Canada ally with the Union and fight side on side fighting the Conferecy it would be really cool

But its your mod of cousre.

And is it possible that taking aminations from medevial 2 to rome engine? or make some similir ones??

I have readed some topic that its posible but not sure

Add atricion when in enemy terrotory cos of desies and wounds etc

    Good luck lad

And add Robert Lee has a playable General

    @Rodish
By chance are are you Canadian, not making any usumptions or something. Cause you are talking about Canada alot. I'm just asking because if encountered many threads where someone had been asking for a certain faction because they are from that country. Just curious.

    @Hound of Ulster
Cool a new faction, the Apaches. All your suggestion could add some great beef to this mod. Thanks!

Also I've had a great idea. Does everyone see how stiff flag models are in battle? Well maybe we could add bones to the flag model so it can wave in the air! It would look real cool. Also for infantry special ablities, we could use a "Take Cover" ablity so the infanry ducks down (with a certain animation). Less damage will come to the unit but the unit will have less firepower. Whatcha think?

So, WAR Monger, do you still want the map cut off around Texas?

I was planning on having the Mississippi navigatable an none cross able by units in the very least. Perhaps other rivers as I work the map. There would also be the Shannanoah Corridor with a few routes into it from the west or east.

Actually the map could be cut around new mexico. Not Texas that takes out some western gameplay, natives could be stationed there.

If your going to be adding the Apache, you might want to think about also adding the Cherokee. They played a large role in the campaigns of the west. As a matter of fact, one Cherokee, Stand Watie, was a Brigadier General in the Confederacy and one of the last Generals to surrender at the wars end. And, their region is going to be well within the limits of the map.

Perhaps you can make their region an AOR where you recruit Cherokee infantry for who ever controls it.

Nop im not Canadien just wanted too tell that it would be cool if that it had more payable faction but o well.

Did the Suix play a role in the Civil war?? And UK played a little role in the civil war it selled some ships to the Confederade you should make it a event that gives some ships to the confedaredes

is it posible to add a explosion efect when artellery hits ground just like in Empire total war in the rome engine??

Because the canons i saw in some mods are based on the ballistas and only hit but don´t explode

And is this gona be a rome 1.5 or the BI??

How are you gonna fit that the AI works with muskets in the campaing map??

I have seen that the napoleonic 2 mod doesn´t have a caimpage map because of the AI counld handel the muskets but maybe you can

    Good luck

Oh just wondering! Also the mod is for RTW 1.5 because their is no point for the faith concept and night battles could come as an addon. Is it true that BI AI is harder?
Anyways, Native American factions are a go!! So thats two new factions planned. The Apache and the Cherokee. About the fact that Natives fought on both sides in the Civil War, Natives will also be mercs too. So now the diplomatic portion comes into play along with the Natives.

BTW, another idea for special ablities, we could have a Rebel Yell ablities for some Confederate units. It could be similar to warcry.

Im not sure if there is some shape or animation for explosions, but people feel it must be changed for this era. And can smoke be moved up towards the end of the musket so looks as if the man is firing other than being set on fire?

I tried the european war beta mod and it has some cool animation for loading canons in thing its based on the napoleonic 2 mod
but fix the smoke and a movement when a canons fires.

If you could make the screen shift o move a bit just like in medevial 2 when a canon is fired that would be cool

    good luck

Go all the way to California, but make the Rockies, Cascades, and Sierra Madres passable only through the Oregon and Morman Trails. Make the Missouri river naviagible up to what is now Montana. The Sioux are a better bet then the Cherokee, mostly for gameplay reasons. The Sioux at this time were lance, rifle, and bow-wielding cavalry, while the Cherokee would be indistinquishable from the Union and Confederacy.

There was an attempt by the Confederates to make a move in Arizona early in the war, while the Sand Creek Massacre occured in 1864.

I've contacted Ramashan about this, so we'll see what he does next. If we are using America entierly, this means more factions, and probably just Native American ones.

Also I think it might be good if for the campaign we change unit production to ranged units as a priority. And small numbers of cavalry. And about the size of a cavalry unit, I'm think 10-15 men instead of the normal, 60 men. And making them light ranged cavalry will keep them out of the main battle. So whatcha think?

And one more thing...I thought it would be cool, if we spit the Union and the Confederacy into different faction like the Julii, the Scpiii and the Brutii. But the represent different Armys. The Union factions could consist of The Army of the Potomac, Army of the Cumberland, Army of the Ohio, and for the Confederacy, the Army of Northern Virginia, Army Mississipi etc. They have unbreakable bonds to each army so there isnt any Confed on confed fighting. Mission from Abraham Lincoln would play a major role in where each Army moves. eg. Army of the Potomac moves into Virginia.

So...can two faction have their own sort of senate? We should actually wait for this answer. There is a RTW mod that has edited senate missions and several faction are able to respind to them.

Not one volunteer yet. If I dont get a team by mid Feb. this mod is as good as dead.

What mod is good as dead? I see no mod here?

You don't make a mod by getting a team to work for you. Almost all successful mods start with one person who does almost all the work, and then other people might pitch in after it's well under way. Usually after it's released, if it's good, others who like it might help some.

This is the way 99% of "mods" "die" early on. It's not like anything really died, only the often foolish hopes of the guy that tried to start it by asking others to work for him. I mean no offense to you.

Well Garnier, there are a few jobs in this mod I cant handle, I can only do so much...for certain projects you need a team. Besides Ive already stated I could work on unit cards and faction symbols. I cant model, cant animate, cant script...at least I'm doing some of the work.
    Here are 2 faction symbols:

    CSA

    USA

    How about it?
Once I decide which Native American factions are gonna be in then I can make more symbols.

I'm just recommending that if you can't do almost all the work yourself, that you don't try to start a mod project like this.

Basically, the people who can and want to do the real work are already doing it in some mod of their own.

You know what Garnier in my opinion, as long as some work is being done we are one step closer to actually completing something. The way I see it, mod die from discouragement.
