Hi there. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I'm currently playing a long campaign as England and am about halfway through. My general-led army was besieging the French-owned city of Dijon until the garrison was forced to do battle during the French turn. The French AI had placed a couple of captain-led support armies in the area, and initiated battle with one of these. I also had a small support force in the area, though my main army was large enough that my own reinforcements would not come onto the field until one of my fielded units was destroyed or routed. After winning the battle and returning to the campaign map, the AI sequence of movements does not continue. The campaign map is animated, though I may not use the mouse unless I Esc to the Menu. I am 'locked out' while the AI makes its moves, yet it fails to do so.
I have fought the battle twice; once from a save made when the battle was initiated and once after loading from the preceding turn. In the first battle I had routing units pursued until the field was clear, and in the second I accepted victory as soon as offered. In both cases, the problem remains the same.
If I auto-resolve, the defeated units retreat, the French AI moves a spy unit elsewhere, then brings another large captain-led army to attack my victorious force. I have yet to fight or auto-resolve this battle.
Naturally, I don't want to waste half-an-hour fighting on the battle map just to crash my campaign!
I've been playing this campaign for some time, so would like to finish it: Any ideas on what is causing or how to solve the problem?
Thanks for reading.
