Thread: Kingdoms Not Working

    Default Kingdoms Not Working

As some of you may know, I bought M2TW on Steam and had troubles getting it started but I eventually got it to work. Kingdoms finally finished downloaded and updating so I was exicted to try it out, but it didnt work When I try to load it, the original launcher comes up and when I click Start, I can choose from Vanilla or any of the Kingdoms campaigns. But when I try to play any of the campaigns, a box pops up and says:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this erro and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The system cannot find the file specified."

And then there is a "Details" box, and when I click it, it drops down and tells me this:

"See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To save others headaches, I put it in spoilers.

You need .Net framework 3 for Kingdoms to work. See if this works: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netf...63.aspx?ppud=4.

Run it and it will tell you whether you have it or not. The only thing showing up inyour JIT is version 2.

If it installs try to run a camapign. If it works you are set to go.

If it says youare already up to date and the game does not start, there are a few more.

That was a pain to try and do... I Went to install it, and it told me that:

"You must use "Turn Windows featers on or off" in the Control Panel to install or configure Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1"

So I went into my control panel and saw where it said .Net Framework 3.5 and unchecked that box. It made me restart my computer and I went back to install it again, and it told me the same thing. Then another thing poped up and let me try to reinstall it using the reccomended settings and I believe its installing now...

Well that didnt work when it was just about finished installing, it came up and said an error occured and closed the program. This really is getting annoying. Why wont the game just work?

That says you have .Net 3.5 installed.

Have you run Microsoft Update and installed all the software options lately?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displayLang=en is one Vista won't find. See if it works along eith running windows Update.

I got it to work. I uninstalled Kingdoms from the computer, then from Steam as well, and I popped in the disk and installed it and it works just fine.

EDIT: Thank you very much for your help though, it was appreciated!
