update 1.3 medieval 2

hi i have winbows 7 and i have recently installed medieval 2 for the first time on windows 7 and when i try to update it to 1.3 an error pops up while trying to update data 3 pack saying error:invalid or missing target c:/program files x86/sega/medieval ii total war/packs/data_3.pack update cannot be continued

any help would be appreciated thanks

Is your Medieval2 copy dvd, download, or Gold Edition? Do you own Kingdoms?

dvd and i do own kingdoms but when i installed kingdoms as it was installing the patch it came up the same error so i downloaded the correct patch and it still says it

i think it may have something to do with windows 7 as i have unisntalled and reinstalled medieaval loads of times when i had windows xp but now the first time installing with windows 7 it doesnt work also rome total war wont work either as when i patch to 1.5 i think it is, loads of folders go missing. all to do with the patches really
