Default Copying Pictures with fine details

Whenever i've used the lasso tool it's been a pain using it to get round images with really fine details. For example, the hair on this picture. Would there be any way to copy that woman while cutting out all the spaces in between her hair without doing it manually and messily?

By the way, I use GIMP.

Use the pen tool for nice bows and round stuff. or use brushes with the eraser tool

Rendering can be a long, boring job, especially when rendering a pic with lots of hair, like yours

Rendering a pic like yours is near to impossible. Or if you want to do it right it would at least take your 4 hours. Hair as fine is that is pretty much a pain.

I would NEVER ever be able to render that pic. And I got some experience in the business.

Yeah it would take an enormous amount of time to attempt that render.. if you wanted to keep all that hair.
