There will be a lan option, but right now there is not, because it's the beta.

Seems like there are a lot of odd servers I can't join, not sure if those are dev servers or what, but I think they might be private hosts.

Can't recall, but they all have custom names which why I thought they might be privately hosted.

Yes, some of them are privately hosted. AFAIK there are 3 or so Euro servers that are like that.

Indeed, several of them are privately hosted, and entertain passwords as well.

I too, had one, but my computer could not handle it and Warband at the same time.

Yeah, but my computer couldn't handle, so I had to take it down. If anyone is interested in hosting, go to the TaleWorlds forum (it's down now, but hopefully it will be back up soon) and PM Daegoth or Armagan asking to be added to the email list for the dedicated server files.
