Default The Last Legion - Great historical reading

Has anyone around read this book?

It's a really good historical fiction book that is about the flight of the last emporer of Rome, protected by survivors of the "Nova Invicta" legion, a secret and elite group of fighters.

It's a great book, and although it takes a long while to get through, I suggest it is well worth reading.

If I can find my copy I can tell you who the author is.

Isn't it a historical fiction? While interesting some of the discrepencies with reality make me groan I'd suggest the novels of Julius Caesar that are out there that I am looking for...one of them is called field of swords or somesuch, the Emperor series

    Conn Iggulden...the Emperor series

Gates of Rome, The Death of Kings and the Field of Swords.

The fourth book, the gods of war is yet to be released.

Very good reading if you can find them.

I believe he is currently writing of the Golden Horde...should be good

Really? I should try to get my hands on some more books of him. I've read his three books on Alexander, best books I've ever read. Detailed, exciting and yet historical accurate.

I suggest the 'Masters of Rome' series by Colleen McCullough. It covers from the advent(advent means rise, right?) of Gaius Marius to the Caesar-Pompey civil war. Best books I've ever read.

I've got to add those books to my reading list. I've read Iggulden's books, and they're good reading--if a little liberal with history.
