I think they're supposed to be resting the spear on their shoulders.

To me it looks uncomfortable, how can you keep balance on a horse when holding a spear like that??maybe they can change it because it looks also weird.., But as I sayed: everything else is AWESOME!!!

Sarmatians used their knees to control the horse while holding the lance with both hands before charge... Romans and others learned this trick from them!

Surely balance isn't an issue there - it's still on the same side - either way, the same weight is being exerted on the same side of the body. if anything, it's slightly more balanced because you're moving the spear's centre of gravity closer to your own.

why? it's not in any way impractical or imbalancing - the spear isn't the wrong way around, by the way - that's just the iron butt spike.

how do you prepare to charge then if you hold the shield in the other hand? shouldn't there be an overhead movement of the lance in the moment the horse rider prepares to charge?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Try it yourself! Try making the specific action I mean! if he hadn't a shield I suppose it could be plausible because he could use the other hand or maybe he put his shield on the back... well it's impractible anyhow! the lance held on the shoulder with the spear head in the back and not in front seems more logical! the movement is natural...
Edit: Oh wait I think I figured it out! the movement could be possible with a rotation of the wrist before charge! so it's ok like that too! I wonder how is animation...

I fail to see what the issue is here. you just rotate your arm forward through 120 degrees or so, and bingo, spear is at the right level, and spearpoint is at the front.

An inquire, werent the legions back in the punic war in the traditional form, i mean, the first line hastati the next principes and the final line the Triarii?
Cause here what i see is a republican cohort, and some triarii with the same equipment.

And are there going to be the late republican legionaries that julius caesar had , almost the same just with horse hair plumes ?

Ive read the article , then i realize that when the battle of Cannae ended then the distictions between principes and hastati had become more blurry, but what about the Triarii, i have read that they used an Etruscan-Corinthian type of helmet (it was used only by them) after the battle of cannae the Etruscan-Corinthian helmet distinction also changed and the Triarii used the montefortino with a different plume (basicly they looked like caesars legionaries)?

This is what i mean, that the Triarii looked liked that wasnt that the case?

Of course thats not an ill willed question, i am just curious and i just wonder if iam missing something historically

I wonder if there should be a Camillan army which was transitional from the Hoplite based armies of the late Kingdom to the Polybian legions of the Punic Wars era.
