I think they're supposed to be resting the spear on their shoulders.

oh!!! now I see he meant this...
yeap! maybe it should be in the other way...
why? it's not in any way impractical or imbalancing - the spear isn't the wrong way around, by the way - that's just the iron butt spike.

how do you prepare to charge then if you hold the shield in the other hand? shouldn't there be an overhead movement of the lance in the moment the horse rider prepares to charge?
Edit: Oh wait I think I figured it out! the movement could be possible with a rotation of the wrist before charge! so it's ok like that too! I wonder how is animation...Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I fail to see what the issue is here. you just rotate your arm forward through 120 degrees or so, and bingo, spear is at the right level, and spearpoint is at the front.

Nice Previews, I'm still reading all the availible RS2 previews until it's released!
Actually, a little bit.
An inquire, werent the legions back in the punic war in the traditional form, i mean, the first line hastati the next principes and the final line the Triarii?
Cause here what i see is a republican cohort, and some triarii with the same equipment.
And are there going to be the late republican legionaries that julius caesar had , almost the same just with horse hair plumes ?
MACEDONIA ETERNAL GREEK KINGDOM
Read the legion part of the release thread and if that doesn't explains it the 3 roman previews.

Ive read the article , then i realize that when the battle of Cannae ended then the distictions between principes and hastati had become more blurry, but what about the Triarii, i have read that they used an Etruscan-Corinthian type of helmet (it was used only by them) after the battle of cannae the Etruscan-Corinthian helmet distinction also changed and the Triarii used the montefortino with a different plume (basicly they looked like caesars legionaries)?
This is what i mean, that the Triarii looked liked that wasnt that the case?
Of course thats not an ill willed question, i am just curious and i just wonder if iam missing something historically

MACEDONIA ETERNAL GREEK KINGDOM
I wonder if there should be a Camillan army which was transitional from the Hoplite based armies of the late Kingdom to the Polybian legions of the Punic Wars era.
