I suppose number 3 because that is how it went and it makes the game better because then you need to control parts of the see to make your troops safe to the ather place. + before you start a war you really need to prepare for it make unit shipments from homecountry to colonial for example.
I do hope that you will have the ability to build forts in the wilderness. Also, I know there is a glitch that causes musketeers to not fire when their placed on walls however, can you add a group of soldiers onto the walls that man cannons? I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to do. Please tell me that this ides would be implemented so it would make sieges a lot more fun. *Thinks of the Siege scene in Last of The Mohican's *

I'm sure it would be difficult. I don't see how they could actually man a weapon.
I think the only possibility is to have a fort that uses wall towers, and then just to have the defending troops fill the interior for when the enemy breaches the walls.
As far as settlement battles go, I'm thinking either replace them with a fort or turn it into an open field battle, if it is possible.

M2 AI can't handle this. No matter what, the bulk, if not all of the forces in the colonies have to be produced there. Shipping troops from Europe to half way around the world just isn't something the M2 had in mind when it was designed.

If it is possible, try to make " Mutual protection pacts" and maybe a way of forcing two nations at war to ceace fire and so.

Try to think of things that aren't typical, as I've given things like campaign AI plenty of thought (defensive pacts are quite easy, and although they're not "official", they are effective).

Eh, you know the texture models of Culverin's? It consisted of a one loader, one aimer, and another one that just stood there when you were firing the weapon? Take than model or animation and just make it a permanent unit on a wall that can be built on the wall.... I mean that's mostly what a cannon manned by infantry mostly consisted of when they were defending the fort. Forts could be the only thing that are built because it was common in the wilderness of the America's mostly.

Female monarchs could be represented if there is a way to script a certain name to a certain portrait. The problem would be if you didn't do it right it may come up with a female general, etc, so it would have to be the result of 100% scripting, which may take away from the gameplay. If this took place in the Elizabethan or Victorian eras, it would be worth it, but I don't know about it just for the heck of it.

I see, that means the men are just part of the structure, so it looks like you have placed men in that building, But in actual fact they are just an animated feature of the building. Now thats some good thinking, possible, I'm not 100% but I'd say it might be possible. It would be a bit like vanilla cannon towers with additional animation just being attached to the model.
This could very well work but I will say it would be exactly that a lot of work. But this Idea is worthy of consideration.
