At the moment it's a settlement on our campaign map, but not a wonder. The rock cut temple façades and all date back to the first century BC and first century AD, and hence are situated to late in time to be inserted as a wonder in 272 BC. At this point actually Selah was of more importance than Petra, but because of the importance Petra would get and because of it being famous we've chosen to stick with it. Especially as Selah would not remain that important for long.

i got one and maybe a few more. this one would be for armenia, its called the armenian stone hendge or Zorats Karer, it was not really a hendge but it was mainly a necropolis from the middle bronze age to the iron age. it could have been used as time device thing... or a place of refuge in times of war from the hellenistic to the roman period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zorats_Karer i hope this fits the requirments

I would like to suggest several unique buildings:

    A. Guard posts along trade routs that will increase trade and the productivity of the resource- in the incense road (I visit often the remains of those posts, built specially by Rome for the purpose of protecting trade). As well as other obvious trade routs, it could be built in Hadrian's wall as well.

    B. The Acropolis at Scythopolis.

    C. The Messada fortress (that stood years of Roman siege).

    D. Petra and other Nabatean cities (will Nabatea be it's own faction?)

    E. The Corinthian railway, is built already & increases trade.

    HaNamal WeHa'Homot Sel Qarthadast
    HaMiqdasim Sel Ba'al-Hammon WeAstarot
    Mitsbat HaPilaenim

(from the description in the first page)
These are written in modern day Hebrew, and in a bad way, too .
Did the Carthaginian language perish so that we can't use that?
Can't Greek be used, or at least the phrasing fixed?

    To Hieron en tois Hierosolymois
This is a Jewish icon, and deserves to be called by it's Hebrew name rather than it's Greek name.
Its בית המקדש, or Beit HaMikdash.
    Literally house of the temple.
If you need help finding decent pictures of it or building a 3d model for the strat map, I'm glad to help.

    Cheers,
    Evb.

Questions A &D: read the last preview.
C: why would we add that one? There was no Jewish faction at this time, nor was Massada more of a fortress than any of the other rocks in the area. Nor was it of importance to any of the factions,... What effects would it have anyway?
    F. It's not Hebrew, it is just very similar to modern Hebrew.
    G. Why would Greek overlords talk Hebrew? Also I believe a very unique dialect of Aramaic was spoken there mostly during our time frame.

I guess your'e right there too, but the revolts returned the Hebrew language as far as I know.
Except for that the Jews put up the biggest revolt against Rome (maybe except Spartacus) ever. Twice.
Don't they get a little scrap of a something?
Even the Nabateans only got urbanized with Rome's help and when the kingdom was announced it was half Roman in style and annexed after ~3 generations...

And what about the Corinthian railroad?

Those revolts are outside the time frame. The 'Jews', which is an anachronistic denominator at this time, would be almost a standard region/community in a Hellenistic empire. Except the brief period in which Jerusalem was made a dual settlement, half Hellenistic Polis (Antiochos), half local traditional Jerusalem. (Which is a bit more of an unusual situation, but nothing more either) The only note worthy revolution during our time frame would be the Hasmonean one, though that appears to have been a tempest in a teapot. (I don't think you'll like the new revolutionary, but convincing view of John Ma)

The Urbanisation of Nabataea is difficult to put in chronology. What constitutes urbanisation anyway? There various theories out there, some claim they were very much settled and all by the 2nd century BC other say that it only decently happened after the birth of Christ. Personally I think real urbanisation came due to Hellenistic influence rather than Roman. The will to represent a Hellenistic kingdom and the incorporation of Damascus would have more to do with that I think. And before that the incorporation of the Hauran area and Bostra would have had it's influence earlier on as well. Gods like Qos and Dushara - clearly those of a settled, agriculturally active,... people- also seem to stress the earliness of that as well. Also Petra's technology for allowing it to be a lush settlement in the desert seem rather native in technology, while architecturally there was borrowed a lot it clearly wasn't from Rome either. Not to speak that we archaeology proves the first monumental temples were being build about 200 years before Roman conquest, before Pompey visited the Levant. Though without doubt there was Roman contact in some ways before. The Urbanisation however had more to do with being attractable trade partners for their hellenistic trade partners though.

They got more then enough having a wonder. They were just another silly and strange community in one of the peripheral provinces of large, powerful Hellenistic empires with many more provinces and satraps. They shouldn't get more just because they would unexpectedly could pass on a part of their identity and that those who got would unexpectedly and coincidentally cause large religious influence, especially and mostly by inspiring other monotheistic religions though. That doesn't mean they were of much importance culturally, politically, economically,... centuries before all this. Two "big" revolutions (and really not as big as you say, compare it to the one of Odaenathus and Zenobia for one) after our time frame and centuries after our starting date are no argument at all. Unless you'd like us to swap the Sweboz with Batavians and do all sorts of ridicule.

So really I can't see why people think they should have much more than what they have.

Corinthian railroad: that's something for our Hellenistic historians to check up on. But it could be a good addition.

you don't have to be on the team to know that it's already included. I'm wondering how many people here have actually played EB and finished a campaign.

Can Tyre count as a wonder?

Yes. The temple of Awam (and Baran) will be in, the Mayab Dam will be one as well. Possibly some others. Haven't made a final decision yet though.

I've actually never played an EB campaign in the Mediterranean, because I overplayed those geopolitics in other mods.

But you're absolutely right about not finishing a campaign. I actually like it that way! I make my mark then leave my faction to its historic fate.

Even if you overplayed other mods taking place in the Mediterranean for Rome, I would strongly recommend playing Europa Barbarorum. It's probably the best mod I've ever played in any game, and I've been experimenting with mods for a while. It really shows that this is a team of extraordinary modders for them to still be working on a mod after all this time. I, in fact, just made an account on this forum to post this message in praise of this team. It releaves me to see that there is still some life on the topic of this mod. Best of luck to you EB team! I would offer my help but I'm not an experienced modder, and I'm sure your combined knowledge of history far surpasses mine. I'm looking forward to spending hours and hours playing this fantastic mod

By play Europa Barbarorum, I mean experiment with all the factions.
