The Ultimate Napoleonic Game

Ok, I got this idea from another topic,
What would your ultimate Napoleonic game be, picking from current and upcoming titles forgetting what your computer could handle.

I think it would be the graphics from NTW
The Battle system from Histwar Les grognards with a 1:1 ratio.
The campaign map from Crown of Glory
and maybe the NTW Multiplayer lobby.

What would your be? (And don't say "a game that accually works")

I hope you guys aren't disappointed with Les Grognards. It sounds like you expect it to be perfect and I hope that it is but you might be setting yourselves up for a huge letdown. I guess the original list from Marshall Beale would be a great game but a 1:1 ratio might be asking for a bit too much.

I'll be more than satisfied if it includes even half the features detailed in the manual...

i think a multiplayer like M2TW or RTW would b better than ETW's/NTW's.

Nah. It's JMM's ethos that makes it so great, i.e. Historical accuracy >>>>> everything. Which other game can you think of in which orders are transmitted via aide de camp, which the enemy can then capture? Just to give one, small example. It's gonna be great.

I would combine:

The Campaign, Manpower and Economic System from Frank Hunters ACW game (obviously modified to represent the period)
The Battle System from Histwar
The Diplomacy System probably from Crown of Glory (its seems about the best attempt I can remember so far)
and the Graphic Quality from ETW (with accurate skins of course)

The only thing none of these addresses is the music, and so far the best I've come across is Brigadier Grahams mod, so I'd throw that into the mix too.

I noticed my Right Honourable friends comments about Histwar, but from what I've heard HistWar is only a battle system, so it won't give the full Napoleonic experience.

One advantage of Histwar in that domain is that it will feature a play be email mode.

The ONLY downfall about Histwar is that it has no multiplayer lobby. Other wise, for me, it is perfect!

I think guy that we forget the Europa Universalis game in our consideration. Take the EU game with battle in histwar and the the graphic with total war and it would be perfect.

I exclude EU from all such evaluations simply because I hate real-time campaign movement.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

I'd stuff the most recent three Total War games together. Imagine: ETW with proper sieges, AI, cities in general, and that useless yet wonderful feature of Rome: View settlement on the battlemap. Perhaps with a possibility of taking control of a single soldier as in mount&blade (after a battle maybe, take on the role of a soldier of your choice, perfect for AARtists) and a Men of War-style cover system. Stick in Civ/Sim-city style city building (optional, of course). Ports of Call style trading. An Empire Earth style "through many eras". An Assassins Creed style game where one can (optionally) choose to control assassins in their missions, giving a greater chance of success. The friendly, characterful interface of my old friend Age of Mythology. You may now have begun to realise that my dream Total War game, constructed from every game I could stuff in without going properly mad (and many I couldn't), is still very much a dream.

Just put it in the Napoleonic era and your there. For more information, look up "completely insane" in a dictionary.

the graphics from NTW but i still love the ntw2 graphics,until ntw come out it is the best napoleonic graphic that you can get for a pc game
