Default RTRVII: Fate of Empires - Bugs and Issues

Please report any bugs or issues here.

When submitting a report, please provide as much information surrounding the issue as possible, including screen shots and save games, especially in the case of CTD's.

Maybe this is supposed to happen, but when I load up a campaign I can see the whole map. I can see where armies are and settlements. Nothing is hidden other than exact buildings and units. Is this intentional?

Yes at game start the fog of war is disabled so the opening scripted battles can be viewed. After the battles are fought the fog of war is re-enabled like it would be for any mod at the start of a campaign.

BTW welcome to the forums and I hope you enjoy Fate of Empires!

Oh, okay. Yeah, I was wondering what was up with the king of Epeiros (I really can't ever spell his name right. Pyrhuss? Pyruss? Pyhrus?) running around beating the Romans.

Thanks! And I assure you, I WILL enjoy it. You needn't worry about that!

His name has been spelt a number of ways, and we choose to use Pyrrhos.

OK..I just started a campaign as Rome.

    Gotta say it looks great!

    Opening video is impressive.

Unfortunately I got a CTD at the end of the opening battle.
I withdrew my last battered Hastati unit & clicked exit battle.

    CTD.

I got CTD too after I had finally won the first battle of the Epirus campaign

Otherwise this mod looks excellent and the opening video of the Epirus was awesome

Can you confirm that it's an 'errorless CTD'? Can you confirm that the -show_err switch is on the shortcut target?

Are you able to play a custom battle without a CTD?

All these CTD's are certainly atypical and we need to track these down!

    • Are the CTD's repeatable
    • Any error messages?
    • Do you have any savegames we can test, if not start saving before every battle?
    • Are you using the Launcher or the Desktop icon to start your battle?
    • Have you switched the Advisor off?
    • Have you switched UAC off (Vista and Windows 7 users)?
    • Have you got "Unit Shaders" switched on in Video Settings?

The quickest way to establish whether the issues are game or installation related is if you can provide us with a savegame to check. Please provide them with a clear description of the events and circumstances leading up to the CTD.

    Are the CTD's repeatable

I let my second attempt play out & it did not repeat.

    Any error messages?

    None. Just CTD

Do you have any savegames we can test, if not start saving before every battle?

Just had another one where I was attacked by Epirote Army & it CTDed as the campaign map zoomed in to the figures involved.

Are you using the Launcher or the Desktop icon to start your battle?

    Desktop Icon

Have you switched the Advisor off?

    Yes

Have you switched UAC off (Vista and Windows 7 users)?

I am using XP64Pro. Is that relevant & if so how would I do that?

Have you got "Unit Shaders" switched on in Video Settings?

    Yes.

    @ Ballacraine

The problem with non-repeatable CTD's is that it can be difficult to establish what is due to the game itself and what may be peculiar to your particular installation or PC. During testing we have found the game to be remarkably stable, which is why I suspect an external factor is involved.

I suggest that you do a quicksave before every battle that you also initiate a save at the end of each turn. If you then experience a CTD the save can be sent to ust for examination.

Every savegame sent to us will be looked at by the Development team, in our bug testing forum, and a report of our findings, positive or negative, provided to you.

    OK Thanks, Tony.

How can I best get the savegame files to you?

You can convert it to a zip or rar file and upload it as an attachment.
