It isn't quite the same thing as Kirk101 was asking about (army morale) but its a close approximation.
hmm...problem with this it makes the game play shorter in battles as we dont want armies retreating after just a few casulties?
I am happy with the morale gameplay and have played many game where the units rout and do come back to fight another day! we do use darth AI in game so I assume that this has been accomodated.

    Thanks for feedback

I understand. I find the gameplay still exciting and challenging though and armies don't crack after just a few casualties, you still get armies completely destroyed on occasion (if you wish to pursue with your light cavalry of course). What I find is that both battle lines get locked into long firefights and if you can manouvre your cavalry reserve to a flank and roll it up you get a house of cards effect that can crumple an enemy army as the knock-on effect of routing units makes others collapse. It's very satisfying and one of the most rewarding gameplay aditions I've seen in any TW game. It reminds me more than anything else of my old miniatures wargames days

Thank you for the nice words and we will always listen to our members to look at ways to improve the game. I have passed your thoughts onto the team and will see what we can do in next release

My apologies, I mis-informed you. Its not in TROM (The Rights of Man for Empire) but in TROM2 (for Napoleon). I'd hope the unit morale logic across both games is the same however.

Been thinking probably a dismounted or mounted colonel unit could be created sometimes to help morale of the army if the general is killed and if he leads charges it have more a chance suceeding due to his high morale inspiring the other units.

He could be used sometimes instead of a main general for some campaigns as generals are usually expensive that drain your tresaury and should be used with house rules for not recruiting too many generals as more colonels should be recruited instead. I think colonels with high morale on the field too could possibly change the outcome of the battles unless he gets killed.

This is civil war history, but that is what happened when stonewall jackson who was a colonel at the time turned the tide of the battle of first bull run/manassas so the CSA won descive victory against the union.

Historic examples of colonels:- Robert Clive, Banastre Tarleton, young George Washington, William Johnson in the french and indian war and many others who lead campaigns individually sometimes in history.

This unit should be made available for every major faction or specific like:- Great Britain, France, United States, Spain and the other European Powers.

Colonels should be recruited early in the game and can be promoted when needed as in truth that is where all generals started from anyway historically when they lead armies.

Is there anyway to make the formations a little more orderly? As it appears in my game, the lines are very ragged, and not very impressive. In 18th century drill it is imperative that the line stay dressed, and it really looks odd to see soldiers just standing all about in a formation.

No, that means you have a mod conflict somewhere? I have been playing this version of TAR since November 2010 and there is no white uniforms in game.

Oh.. I think I know the problem.. I used empire optimization mod which included some reskins... I will remove that and try again..

EDIT: The re-skins from Empire Lite were getting in the way. Removed it and everything looks normal now. Thanks.

Final update: got rid of all the re-skin packs (...16.pack) and left the core optimization files. Works now thanks.

Another thing: any chance that a re-skin will make the swords and bayonets look more like steel than lead?
