Default The Offical Napoleon Total War Historic Uniforms Thread

This is the offical thread for links and pictures of Napoleonic uniforms to help the Creative Assembly with their creation of NTW's units!
As a studier of Napoleonic history, I love historical accuarcy, so uniforms of the Napoleonic era are of consern to me. Please post all of
your Napoleonic uniform pictures here and the name of the unit! Could someone please let a CA repersentative reply to this post so
we know someone from CA has seen our suggestions.
This is for Napoleonic Uniform pictures or/and links, no raves, complaining or being a jerk!

Thanks, don't forget to add rep!

It could be sad truth, but I am still hopeful that this time CA prepare uniforms better.
However when I look at ETW case, and at screenshots put on official site NTW, I am anxious about correct historic units and uniforms in this game.

I do not undestand why they make this mistakes. CA lost credibility and should do better work in NTW.
Many Napoleonic fans want historical uniforms in this game.

Im sorry to say that in many movies (and games) that depicts napoleonic soldiers, show them in their "dress" uniform or parade uniform, not the uniform they would ware on campaign.
The pictures in the first post is a good example of this (especially the second picture).

Well this is fine if you dont care about the "little things" and is what Mike Simpson referred to be an american.

To me (and a few others) this is silly. Many believe that soldiers strutted around europe in clean pressed uniforms and glittering epalletes no cover over their shakos etc. Again, this looks good in a movie or game but to me and people that want a litte more realism, this is just dumb.

Im probably overreacting and CA is not known to make realistic games but its just my two cents.

Hey, try to stay on topic, for posting uniforms only, anyway, CA has said their going to put in 322 unique units, all different, unlike Empire.

Ok, let's try and bring this topic back to life. I hope devs will pay attention to it.

I will start with France. Tonight I've got few pictures of french line infantry.
    So, we've got FRANCE

    INFANTRY

    LINE INFANTRY

1800-1808.Left to right: voltigeur, fusilier, grenadier. 1808-1812. Fusilier, grenadier, voltigeur.

1812. Voltigeur ( though quite strange, no epaulettes), fusilier, grenadier.

    Fusiliers 1812, front look.

    Grenadier. 1809. Drummer, 1809. Voltijeur,1809.

And finally comes very important aspect - proper faces and hair.

Indeed. I'd post all Letin's ilustrations from Napoleon's army if I wasn't aware of breaching copyright.

Nicely dont with lights. Here are two more pictures and I start gathering guard infantry images. They will be posted later today.

Here are some chasseurs in pre-1812 uniformes.

    And some light infantry voltigeurs,1812.

Before I turn to french cavalry here are some pictures describing the structure of french army:

This one is from Napoleon:his army and enemies website.

I liked the idea and decided to create more detailed tables, and that's the result:

Note: not all cavalry units were included. Gendarmerie and Garde d Honneur for example didn't get in. Infantry tables do not include foreign troops.

I'd rather prefer they made at list a part of textures right, otherwise we'll have to repaint totally EVERYTHING. Hopefully they'll take a look here and use some of this pics.
    Some cavalry
    Carabineers 1812
Nice pics I'm proceeding with CARABINEERS and CUIRASSIERS then.
Most of this pictures are painted by my favourite artist Telenik A.F. and scanned from Emperor magazine.
