Thread: Are you a Napoleon or are you a Wellington?

Default Are you a Napoleon or are you a Wellington?

When I hear the name Napoleon. Many words come to mind from reading about the military genius.

If you had to choose between Napoleon or Wellington. Whom would you be?

    Napoleon - Fast, Aggressive

    Wellington - Defensive, Patient

Not only choose the person that defines your style, but what would you name your style?

Point_Man - Divide and Conquer (I divide my force and only attack where I am strong)

Triphammer -Hammer (Stacks rifles on one side of an army to produce overwhelming firepower)

King Arthur - Unite and Overwhelm (Forms one big army for an overwhelming frontal attack)

Terminator - Unite then Divide (Similar to King Arthur's Unite and Overwhelm, but instead, he divides his forces before doing a frontal attack)

Tyler the Great - Divide and Overwhelm (Splits forces and he chooses which force to overwhelm your flank with, but does so with multiple smaller forces with effect)

I never really thought much about the strategy's I use before, but you described my general attack really well , very perceptive of you. I tend to do that subconsciously out of habit. In empire I find myself putting rifles all on one side as you say triphammer does, and it is very effective.

You probably summed it up better then I could

Me: think about how to defeat the enemy and then estimate the time it would take if I was cautiously wearing him down, then just run into him and hope that I kill him by my first volleys and melees... I get bored when games take over 20 mins and I have gotten into the habit of taking nations like Russia or Ottos when I play.

i admire both generals for different reasons. i spose if wellington played ntw he would be called a noob camper sometimes as he did use defensive tactics but then on the otherhand he fought some great attacking battles where he was hoplessly outnumbered like at the battle of assaye. which when asked wellington would say was his greatest victory. i like napoleon for his cunning and flank attacks. which he was mainly known for. he broke this habit at waterloo and it cost him by attacking thru the centre. the hammer tactic i use is really an idea i got from napoleon. he would stack his arty and blast away at a particular point of the enemies line and then pour thru it with his columns and cav. i do the same with the hammer tactic but i use rifles to perform this duty. then pour whatever assets i have at hand thru the gap.

Robin of Locksley- Golden Turk: He practice a attack i used to call "Turk" in a very very good way! He beat me twice with a precise exercise. I remember, before he was a Huntsman, i beat him always... times changing...

If you're dealing with the devil, it's not the devil who changes, but rather the devil change you - for sanity is like a spider, sitting in a net woven from the finest of strings, unaware of the hand coming closer, being grabbed and stuffed into a mouth.

To be fair Wellington proved he could attack too. some examples include Assaye and Vitoria.

I tend to just sit there while my opponent runs up, when he gets close I until his men are exhausted and move like. Then it's only a matter of smart kitting untill I win.

Indeed.. my patience wears thin so much that my artillery usually doesn't get more than 10 volleys off before the fight is over, win or lose..

A Prince of Macedon - Makes 1 big control group, and marches foward, to surprisingly good effect ^^

I just form a big box of spear men with archers in the center.

Sounds like a good strategy to me

But....What if your opponent has a archer spam and all your units are grouped up?
