Thread: "Retiring" from BC...

    Default "Retiring" from BC...

I am sick to death of the CTD from an "Unknown Fatal Error" every time I play as the ERE. It always occurs just after a crusade lands against the Holy Land and my campaign comes to an end. Too frustrating for words. I love the units in this mod, best I have found in any mod, but the frustration is just too much. It's back to Stainless Steel or Pro Deo et Rege for me...

I know it has been some time since the last patch was released, but this CTD issue will be dealt with as soon as I find some time (RL is quite demanding for me atm).

Such a shame, your Romans would have made fine meat for my Turks.

Actually I crushed the Turks only to have a fatal CTD when I would get around to the Armenians...

wait, in what oocasions do the game crash? Because I just started a new campaign and am pretty happy about it..
"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

Sometimes, it just pulls me back in.
The moment RR-RC compilation for Stainless Steel is done, I'm gonna go reneissance on Europe's ass.

But first, I have to improve my PC specs. Because after a while ending turns is hell. Especially for Stainless Steel. I realized that there isn't a big problem with Broken Crescent in that sense. So I started it again, after almost a year.

Whenever I get near 1200 AD the game suffers an "Unknown fatal error has occurred" and it crashes to desk top. The Crusade to recapture the Holy Land has just been launched too. It bites after having built up an empire to that point.

I used to get this a lot. I found a sort of workaround thought - saving every turn as a separate save seems to prevent the problem, although I have no idea why.

Well, I like this game... maybe I'll try this method. Although one more crash and I swear...

Strange you get so many CTD's...I've two campaigns as the ERE too (one until 1230, one still going at 1260) and I have experienced no CTD's. Bit of bad luck in your case I guess...

Though I know the team has stated the CTD's have something to do with the scripted events (like the 4th crusade at Constantinople in 1204, the Mongols event at around 1220 and maybe other crusades too).

It is advisable to save every turn (in at least 2 seperate saves), so it may be possible to workaround a CTD.

Yes, it's a bit of bad luck I guess. I know the issue is annoying, but:
