So, this game is still broken yeah? I haven't played it since it basically came out. The game was absolutely terrible so I gave up on it, just like CA gave up on us.
I've come back now to see if it is still the absolute piece of crap it was months ago. Looks like it still is.

Have you read about the imperial edition of N:TW.

Again it's a laugh. Paying extra for some units.

I'd be a lot less of a Doomsayer if each patch didn't break more than it fixed.

Does anyone know if there's news on the multiplayer campaign or did they just lie to us and throw us in a hole again?

Hello to all, I'm new here and would beg your indulgence to post a quick question to veteran players of ETW. It is simply this, is ETW worth buying, bugs and all? I've heard many different things, from a wide variety of sources, ranging from players, to reviewers. Your candid opinion is much appreciated gents.

Thank you. I have and I must admit the results are most discouraging. All this about steam, and not being able to play, or activate the game without internet!?! What in the nine bloody hells of Dante's inferno!!? And not to mention the bugs in the game.... Still I do love that period, and I might just wing it anyway, despite it's flaws.

ooooooo - I just don't know where to buy my Napoleon Total War from!

Everywhere you buy it grants you a different special unit! Brilliant!

I love games that dilute the full experience and grant a bonus to people with more money than sense. I love that ethic - don't you? People who pay more get more choice of units in multiplayer? Brilliant! Great game and life ethic! Love it!
    ------------

I can't believe people will fall for that malarkey again. IMO you'd have to be stupid to pre-order N:TW, especially the super-de-dooper editions.

How can one believe anything CA say? When Napoleon comes out and it is brilliant - I'll eat my words. Until then -- you have to be joking, CA?

Icon13 Alright, that's it, I've had it with Empire Total War

Sheesh, what a bug infested, performance numbing crapola of a game. I've now spent 2 full days trying to get this utter crap to work, and that's it. Deleted from disk and thrown in the bin.

First off, to even get the game running with acceptable graphics takes forever, including a serious amount of forum time looking for tips and clues. Testing back and forth takes hours and hours, because of the huge loading times. And then when you finally get a descent frame rate that looks at least OK, the game will drop to nonplayable again when starting an actual campaign. To even think about setting graphics in anything other than the Tutorial Battles is a no go. You can't even quit out of the campaign battles without going into the next scene with the settlers, making it take forever and then some to test your graphics.

Then off to setup my keys. It takes forever too, since you can't just replace them. If a key is already used, you have to remove this key - where it's used - before you can assign it to where you want it! How stupid is that... When finally set up, I entered the game and whoopsie daisy, my entire key setup has vanished. After repeating the key setup about 10 times in various way, going in an out of the game, I've realized that it will simply not be possible for me to have a custom key setup... Once set, it will be gone when I start playing. This practically makes the game unplayable for me as I've used my key setup in games for many years.

Now I've tried most of this in both Windows 7 and XP. Same crappy results. Same stupid bugs. Same unpredictable graphics performance. The game has been out long enough not to have issues like this.

And then there's the f´n Steam garbage that I need to run it. In game advertising, forced updates and what not. Talk about invasive... This is the last time ever that I buy a game that requires Steam.

This is not just a rant: Anyone looking to buy this game - be warned. I'm sure it's great once you get everything going, but getting there might just get the better of you. I can't believe I payed 500 kr (72 dollar) for this... Which is A LOT of money for me. They should have payed me instead for all the time spent trying to get it to work. And as far as I know there is no refund.

What a relief to jump back to Mirror's Edge or Dragon Age Origins, immersive, beautiful, non invasive games that start up in no time and work just great with most settings on high on my system (GeForce 8800 GTS).

    Cheers

So, what I got out of this is that your graphics card sucks, you don't have enough ram and because of this the game sucks instead of your crappy setup.

Keys? Who the F cares about keybindings? How on earth is that a deal breaker?

And then the whining about Steam and the millisecond ad on the top right before you click out of the title screen? Yikes.

Go back to playing your crappy games no one has ever heard of. Please.

it does take forever to change you keys. it's not deal breaking but it's annoying as hell. and they get reset with every update.

My "crappy setup" works just fine with every other new game out there, including working with advanced visual FX and 3D. My current 4G RAM is sufficient for most apps and games, but as mentioned, I've also tried ETW on other systems.
I wouldn't comment on a game in this way if I hadn't given it a lot of effort to try and make it work. I'm aware that I'm ranting, but that's normally what people do when they have tons of issues with something (and I've had more issues than the ones mentioned).

As far as the key bindings go, well, not being able to change them to what I'm used to is a deal breaker for me. Perhaps not for you, but I fail to see what that has got to do with it, since last I checked, you were not playing the game for me.

You're right about the Steam thing though. The little ad doesn't matter and it's really not something to write home about. But since I've never wanted to use Steam but have been forced to do so in a lot of other games before, I've eventually got tired of their invasive approach, that you can't turn off updates, ads and so forth. That's my opinion and perhaps not yours, but then again you really don't have to take it personal that I don't like your game - and like I wrote earlier, I'm sure it's great once it's working.

    Have a nice day

Steam is the worst aspect. Totally invasive and clunky. It's absolute garbage that one cannot choose to remove a game update. I could have a perfectly well running game if it weren't for Steam.

I've had Steam for over a year, bound all my keys in under a minute, and the game runs fine on my computer. I recently had to change my keys again but I don't remember if it was just because I changed my M2TW keys and didn't change them with my ETW keys but again, it took literally 30 seconds.

Steam is a minor inconvenience at worst.
