Installing the update as I type this, can't wait to check the new battlefields!
Just one thing about the new trees. They seem to have a huge radius, so siege equipment can't pass through areas where there are actually no visible trees and units can hide almost anywhere. The battle maps really do look awesome though.
Do they? I don't know as I haven't been involved in this at all. If they do, then go into descr_vegetation.txt and change the radius values all to 1 if they're any bigger.
If that doesn't fix it we'll need to regenerate a descr_vegetation.db (database) file for you.
Yeah, they're all set to 1.
Ahhhh. I'll tell you what that is....it's the fact that the forest layout files have gaps in which means that the game engine sees those areas as having forest even when there are no trees there.
It's something that was in these earlier versions of the environment changes that I'm changing at the moment for RS2.
I should add that if the issue is similar to the RS2 one, you might still be able to move the siege units by rapidly right-clicking repeatedly where you want them to go. If they start moving, there's a chance they'll keep going and reach the place you wanted.
Sometimes it works, other times they run into a "wall" and won't move. However, try it out!
I'm in your EDB, nerfing your economy.
1.6! Utterly Marvelous...
It couldn't be more perfectly timed for a completely quiet Saturday morning - cool and pouring rain outside and nothing to do till much later. Nice!
-Just fired up a Rome campaign, and noticed that I'm aware of settlements in FOW territory all over western Europe. This is certainly different than i remember. Are these the victory condition settlements? It certainly takes the guesswork out of campaigning outside of the home territory -- not that I would ever do that w/o sending spies & diplomats first, mind you.
Yes it is.

I wonder how do the battles in Germanic forests look now? I was impressed by them in 1.5c and now I guess they look whole much better. Waiting for the new release (as Squid mentioned it) and some spare time to play![]()

There are no new sounds specific to 1.6, they were all added during the 1.5 series.

I find them much improved...
There are more open spaces among the trees, which helps with visibility and maneuvering your troops:
But still plenty of woods to spring your ambushes from:
As well as hills you can use for defensive positions:
But of course the most fearsome thing about Germania's forests are the natives!
