Default Arty doesn't fire after men return to cannons - ideas?

    Hi all -

For some reason, my artillery doesn't fire after men are 'scared' away from their cannons and then return while the battle still rages. The animation still works (men plug their ears and bend away), but no shot is fired. Has anyone seen this?

The only change I've made recently is adding the most recent AUM mod (including the graphics pack). I know the APE team doesn't support other mods, but could their be any connection between my issue and that sub-mod? Seems to me like there's not a direct relationship.

Also, when I played APE before AUM I would see "-1" on unit cards when I didn't have the manpower to recruit. I no longer see those -1 tickers.

    Any ideas?

I have not seen this yet -- do you get the little hand icon when you click the men and hover over the cannons?

AUM is built for APE: TI and should work. AUM doesn't change scripting that I know of, so you should still get manpower shutoffs if under manpowered.

Has anyone else had this problem with APE: TI and AUM?

vanilla bug I think. I noticed this in any marks, from 1.0 to 1.5, when the artillery crews is undermanned. The tubes with a remaining crew of 3 don't fire. Contrary to what happens when a gun is dismantled by a round shot when they leaves and then returns the crews don't merge.

(I do get the little hand when I try to re-man arty.)

I think it's Vanilla, as massi suggests. I removed APETI (and AUM) and gave it a shot, and the same thing happened. It's about a 50% success ratio on whether they fire or not (irrespective of the number of men manning the cannon).

    Thanks -

I just got something similar in APE TI BETA (no AUM, or anything else).

demi cannons were attacked by cavalry that were not fully stopped by my 22 man unit of pikeman guards. It was short lived when the pikemen finally reacted and I never had to manually move the arti troops back to theguns (with the hand) in fact I dont think they ever technically abandoned them as they continued to fire two cannons during the melee.

But after that they would not fire on anything, no matter what I did. Toggled fire at will, canister, different targets, targeted different points on the landscape - nothing. Just sat there.

Well, you could of course set them to melee mode, tell them to attack something and after they left the cannons order them back. Maybe that'll help

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

I can confirm the same experience now (the exact same, after ordering them back with the hand cursor). PLaying Beta.

The unit seems to fire any cannons that were loaded and then stops and will no longer reload or fire, although they periodically duck and cover their ears as if firing.

set them to melee mode, tell them to attack something and after they left the cannons order them back.
I'll try that. Although it seems this is very buggy looking.

    I'll point out a post from above;

This has been shown to happen in vanilla as well -- I have yet to replicate the issue, though, so I can't test either way.
