Hello there technical wizards. I am wondering, is it possible to somehow save a list of names somewhere to make it easier to mass PM the same group over and over. I have to do this quite a lot for the Eagle Standard, and I'm beginning to grumble to myself every time I need to because I have to paste or type in every name.

Create a text file on your desktop. Enter the usernames of people you have to PM, separated by semi-colons. Every time you need to do a mass PM, c&p from the text file. Make sure you disable word wrap before copying. Strangle anyone who keeps changing their name.

There's not any way to do that in the normal software, short of running a database query and a couple regular expression replaces to remove the fluff and get them down to semi-colon separate lists.

I'm not particularly eager to encourage spamming entire usergroups with PMs. There's practically nothing that all of them will care about. Changes to the Citizen rank or whatever can be discussed in the Curia, and those who care can read that.

I'd like it to PM all of the strats. Or in Calvin's case I'm sure, to PM content folks in his particular publication! But the clipboard idea works too even if I have to do the work.

you could create a thread that has all the names of citizens seperated by colon or whatever then copy paste it over for mass pm's? would be a reference thread with additions made everytime someone is patronized or revokes citizenship

yeah exactly, cant imagine having to put up with guys looking for patrons using mass pm

The answer remains the same: we don't want mass PMs. People will use them with the best of intentions, but everyone thinks their own goals are more important than they are, and we'll inevitably have people receiving mass PMs they don't want. On top of that, there's no facility for this built-in to vBulletin, so a hack would have to be used, or the functionality written.

Administrators currently have the right to send mass e-mail to specific usergroups, and I can send mass PMs if absolutely necessary (although it's a whole bunch of work, and I've only done it once). That's enough.
