[HoI3] Cant play after saving game

I installed the game on my laptop, updated to 1.2 and played normally. saved the game, exited, came back and the game refuses to play - whether saved campaign or a new one. it crashes after 'Adapting History' on the loading screen. this never happened to me on my desktop pc.

i set the gfx to 1024x768, with no trees and no advanced water. dont use any mods.

please help

alright ive realised it happens when ive installed 1.2 on

This save bug existed before, you had to edit the save file and delete everything in the sunk_ships entry, try that.

yeah but i also realised it doesnt matter if i save a game or not - all i have to do is exit the game, once i go back in i cant play again until i reinstall
