Are you using XP or Vista?
Where did you install RTW to? Have you moved it from that location?
Where did you get your RTW / RTW BI game from (disc or download)? If it's disc what version is it (RTW Gold, RTW Eras etc). If it's a download from where?

I reinstalled Rome Total War and I am having the same problem. I have the Gold Edition and it installs to \The Creative Assembly\Rome - TotalWar. I have tried renaming the file Activision, still will not work. I don't remember having problems before, using the same disks and files.

I got it to work, uninstalled again, cleaned the registry, pain in the ass this can be.
