Who's to blame for the constant disconnection from Gamespy?

Hey guys, I just bought Rome Total War and have started to play it online. Although half of the time when I try to host or join a game I get disconnected from Gamespy. Is this attributed to Gamespy being generally ? Or is my computer the failing link here. I have a nice internet connection and when I do get disconnected I can always go on the internet, so I don't see the flaw in my hardware here.

Some players are reverting to products such as Hamachi. The only drawback with this is that it's a 'virtual server' which allows up to 26 free accounts but players must know what the name or the server and password is. Generally what happens is that someone creates a server and then advertises on a forum what it is and how to use it (or the other way around).
