If anybody is using the latest release with senate and BI I'd like you to give a try to this and report about event messages.
Just unrar it in your xc/data folder.
For anyone with the latest version:
I'd like you to test this EDU in custom battles.
Scenario:
- gauls/celts VS germans or each other
- no cavalry (it hasn't been balanced yet)
general tips:
- barbarians aren't known for their ability of holding a line so take that into account
- gauls/celts rely on druids to bolster their morale
- germans rely on scare tactics to get the upper hand
- prices are not balanced so just give yourself money and try to pit two balanced armies against each other
What I need to know is if the battles feels right, any feedback will be appreciated.
I might give it a go, did you change Greek units at all in this?
Also, by saying "barbarians are not known for being able to hold a line,"
you mean they're better at getting the first attack in, right?
Also, what are you going to change about cavalry if it's unbalanced now?
I didn't balance greeks yet so they have the same stats as before.
That EDU contains changes to celtic and germanic infantry.
About not being able to hold a line: barbarians historically relied on aggressive charges to win a battle.
Their lighter equipment puts them at disadvantage during prolonged melees and although they kill faster than the civilized equivalents they also tend to loose men fast as well.
With the gauls you can partially offset it using druids to bolster morale, while germans will rely on night raiders or bersekers to scare off lesser enemy units, allowing them to overwhelm the higher level ones.
I get an error when I try to run with this new EDU. Something about a script error in the edu at line 380 column 18. And some other stuff about romans brutii.
Zarax, this EDU is the senate version...
Hmm. It appears you forgot about the Greek Cities phalangite units, their atk.
values are still the same, and haven't been balanced.
Also, I don't like how much pikes (apparently) got nerfed,
but I suppose that is to encourage flanking. Cheers!
I installed the senate version but I am still getting an error. Line 380 column 49.
I also noticed the absence of Chosen Axemen, where are they?
For Numidian Noble Cavalry, are they wearing linothorax? I think it's either
that, or padded armor.
EDIT: As an example unit,
Heavy Persian Cavalry would have 12 armor(heavy scale, hemikataphract horse).
Then, with the barracks tier they are at, 4, their culture, eastern, and no shields,
they would have 18 morale-2= 16 morale, 13 def skill+2-3=12 def skill, and
11 attack, but I dunno about charge bonus, say, 9, because they are a little unwieldy
and slow, unlike Hetairoi, who have 11 charge now. Sounds good to me.

- fixed greek phalangite attack
- chosen axemen are warband axe heavy german in EDU
- numidian nobles wears padded IIRC
- pike attack has been nerfed but phalangites are still under tweaking as their statting is more comples than other infantry. Ideally they should be almost unbreakable from the front but slow killers.
- about cavalry values: I need to do some testing, especially about charging.
- @msmith, can you give me the exact text error please? Line 380 looks fine to me in EDU
Well, I dropped in these 3 new files and I can start the game now. But I can't start a campaign with egypt. And when I exit I get this error.
DATABASE_TABLE error found: unrecognised record id egyptian levey phalanx requested.
Edit: The same thing seems to happen no matter who you try to play as.

Zarax, the problem with line 380 involved the Archer Warband(non-Horde), but they had the
trait can_horde. Thrace, which cannot horde, had ownership of the unit.
