Im starting a new campaigne as The Gauls and I just had a few questions what units should you pack into an army? what kind of garrisons for towns should I keep? Whats the best place to start expanding into? anything like that would be greatly appreciated.

i had started one a while ago as well, abonded it for a macedonian campaign though.

what i did was secure the island first... and made that my economic base, while on the mainland i made barracks etc.

for garrison i used the cheapest units, peltasts or something like that

Dont worry to much about it mate I have just gotten sick of Rome and switched to Pergamon. You will get sick too pretty soon, give Pergamon a try.

Eh, I was just kidding anyway. But I do play many factions. Rome is simply my favorite.

I haven't actually played a campaign as the romans yet, i haven't had the mod too long, but i've done a pergamum campaign and now have started one as carthage.

I will restate, I hate Gauls, Macs, and Greek Cities, I will kill them all. In the end, what I like is planning my conquests, that is why right now I am focused on Rome. I was thinking of giving the Ptolemies a shot, any thoughts?

I find phalanxes too cumbersome in battle, that's why I hesitate to play the Macs or Greek cities.

Neither have I... The massive unit choice overwhelms me, so I didn't even attempt it.

Same here- ive never played as rome, but my favourites are pergamum and parthia.
