Hi guys. If you've been wondering where I've been, it is this.

My laptop has been stolen.

Including all of my regular work on it, and all of the PItalica work. This has devastating consequences in all aspects, professionally and otherwise, for the foreseable future.

What does this mean? Has PItalica development finished, forever? Not exactly. I did upload the latest version to the beta testers one week before the theft. Although it appears to crash for a few of you, that's actually because of a small simple issue, and thus in fact that mod is actually the latest, most complete version in existence. Right now I am in the process of handling a lot of non-mod related things. One of the other things is that I at the moment have no computer, to to finish the development of the mod.

This is a bad and sad news mate. How the steal happened?

Damn, so close and then such an unpleasant find. I hope that you have some very important things backed up, like your mail still on the net and so on. I lost my pc a few years ago and that was very hard, while a month ago I lost my hard drive and had to do a few weeks work again for this mod, and lost all my documentation. I know a bit what it is. I wish you good luck and a swift recovery of your most important files (most certainly not mod-related)!

The most annoying thing when you have something stolen is all the personal and useful stuff you lose and that the bastard who stole it will never use... It's like when they steal your wallet and you think: "well, keep the money but give me my ID and driving license back please..."

of course Sig being the IT professional he is would have backedup all his stuff on an external HDD .. yes?

If it was stolen at a university it's probably one of the students, you cannot trust young people these days .. no morals .. .. just put out the word offering a huge reward.

have you considered using Subversion for mod development? EB and RTR use it and it is a great tool. its also impossible for your work to lost/stolen

Man, I'm sorry Sig. Nowadays, it's awful to lose a computer, whatwith the professional and personal investments that are put into them and their software. I hope that you're able to replace it at little cost to yourself; not only because of the obvious impact that the loss has to PI, but also because you're a stand-up guy who I'd like to see have his laptop returned to him in one form or another. Good luck getting it replaced.

Yes, I strongly suggest SVN too. I would say it's fundamental for collaborative work and for keeping our build safe.
