    As I'm rebalancing the XC unit stats I usually keep certain standardized parameters to ensure intuitive gameplay.
    The spartan royal guard however has been an exception and XGM signature unit.

    Following the rebalance we can have 2 options:

    1) historically plausible stats:

    attack: 15
    armour:10
    defence: 12
    shield: 5
    morale: 27
    1 hitpoint

    2) XGM-level stats (proportioned to XC new stats system):

    attack: 18
    armour: 10
    defence: 15
    shield: 5
    morale: 30
    2 hitpoints

    For comparison, the sacred band rebalanced stats are:

    attack: 12
    armour: 10
    defence: 12
    shield: 5
    morale: 21
    1 hitpoint

    In the campaign the historical unit would get realistic recruitment (lvl5 barracks, 2 turns) while the super-unit would stay with XGM recruitment at 30 turns.

    The choice is yours.

    I'd go for historical stats, but, Zarax, you forgot the charge values for each...

    We may be able to work out a compromise somewhere in-between as well. Historically plausible stats with a second hitpoint perhaps. One thing to consider is that we could make the SRG a general unit if it has historically plausible stats. Not all generals would have Spartan guards, but some would.

    Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

    A compromise? That could work, but how long to recruit and from which building would
    the unit be available? The general unit sounds cool, too.

    It depends. If we made it a recruitable general, maybe from the Core Building. Otherwise from the appropriate barracks level.

    Dude i love the srg as they are now. Without them my greek campaigns are doomed :sparta:

    KK, even with historically plausible stats you've got an extremely powerful unit.
    It still would have the best attack in the game and 2nd best defence (armour+skill) amongst infantry.

    If you're worried about campaign start here's a few stats for comparison:

    Macedonian foot companions:
    Attack: 10
    Armour: 6
    Defence: 14
    Shield: 3
    Morale: 18

    Hypaspists:
    Attack: 10
    Armour: 10
    Defence: 10
    Shield: 5
    Morale: 18

    I can live with a downgraded SRG, just can't see the point - we already have a bunch of tough hoplites - athenians, sacred band, perioki, heavy hoplites... I personally don't see a reason to have just another one. Right now SRG is something to be cherished and protected until the time comes to unleash it.
    However if most people prefer the other option, then ok.

    Most of those have been downgraded (proportionally).

    And the SRG will retain that status no matter what the options as it's going to be the undisputed most powerful unit in the map for quite a while.

    Getting a bit more into detail, SRG is the best hoplite unit in the game and it would still be able to trash the opposition.

    Take into account that:

    - there are going to be only 4 elite level hoplites (SRG, greek SB, carth SB and basilikon agema)

    - macedon needs to wait until post marius to be able to deploy anything comparable (foot companions and hypaspists are professional infantry, not elites)

    - SRG is the only hoplite unit to get also fanatic stat bonus (+3 attack, +6 morale)

    - athenian and syracusan hoplites have comparable equipment but far less training, while heavy hoplites and periokoi are still a notch down in training and with inferior armour

    Doesn't it sound like an extemely prized unit?

    Hmm...

    It has something. The original SRG is a XGM historic unit. However, having a uber-unit is maybe not the best option. I think a SRG which is a bit tuned down is best for XGM-XC.

    The worst and less hystorically-imaginable fact are the 2 hitpoints.
