Best and worst Game endings ever.

Well i saw a thread about the best movie endings but i don't realy know movies as well as i know games. I was thinking the ending for Half LIfe 2 and halo 2 had some of the worst endings i ever saw. It was a cliff hanger just so you no there makeing a new one. But Half Life had such a great story but then they just **** you over in the end. Also Romes ending was pritty week as well. I was hoping for like a cellibration or something but everyone looks so depressed that your the leader of the world now. You think at least your people would be happy you know. I think KoToR had a good ending tho, What you people think.

The ending to "Mafia" was great, felt like a movie. The cool thing is that you can get that game now for like $10 in the bargain bin.

You've got to remember Halo 2 didn't have an 'ending'. It was just making way for another Halo game. Thus the cliffhanger.

Actually, we dont know FOR SURE if they're making a Halo 3. 'Sides, we all know Half Life 2 is better than Halo 2. Halo 2 just had more hype and less people have powerful enough PC's to run HL2.

But we actually have some kind of proof of a Half Life 3. Look at this:

It's from some conference and under "Game Engines" it says Half Life 3. And there's no way that's a 2.

I thought HL2's ending was actually ok, cause they're going to continue the story. As long as there's an ending like HL2, I dont care as long as there is a continuation of it. Unless its the real end of the story.

Actually, I just found out that Half Life 3 is already confirmed. But still, might as well post a pic to prove it

Shogun had a pretty good ending. I like how you suddenly see a modern Japanese street, with a statue of your daimyo watching over it. Deus Ex also had THREE good endings.

I really enjoyed the original StarCraft storyline and BroodWar's ending was pretty good IMO.

In my opinion, Metal Gear Solid 3's ending , actually all of the endings of the Metal Gear Series on PS2 are all equally moving, and thought provoking, they do a real good job with it

The end of the OFP campaign was quite exceptional: Some years after the war you get back to Everon and get some beer with your friends.
I also liked the ending of the Resistance campaign, poor Mr. Troska.
Mafia has a great ending too. "Mr. Angelo? There's a present from Mr. Salieri."

I no about most of these games. I've played most of them and loved them but i realy never beet most of the. (Freelancer, Mafia, Medal Gear 3, OFP, and Morrowind) What was so great about the endings i wonder without messing it up for me anyway.

I haven't played a lot of these games mentioned here, but from the ones I have I really liked Mafia's, OFP's and in some ways even KoToR's...Can't seem to remember any other good game endings at the moment tho...

Best ending would be Mafia and Kotor.
And worst ending gotta go to Kotor 2.

If you count the scenes leading up to the ending, then KotOR was magnificent. If you just count the ending itself, KotOR was mediocre at best. Deus Ex, on the other hand, had utterly brilliant endings. I've played a lot of mediocre-ended games, but I can't offhand think of any ending I would really call the 'worst'.
