    Reminds me of some that I like to walk through.
    That's the idea. I'm working on the beech/birch open temperate forest at the moment. Should have some screenshots to show later today hopefully.

    I forget who it was that was asking about how the forests will look on the battlemap from the point of view of fighting battles, but this one will be a real visual treat, and will feel very much like you're fighting inside the woodland.

    A small note if I may; lower-end graphics cards (such as laptop ones or cheap ones) won't be able to handle the grass as seen in these screen shots. My laptop has to have the grass set to off unfortunately, and I'm assuming most other people with these kinds of graphic capabilities will have to do so as well.

    Probably true. I'm running a GeForce 8800GT on a QuadCore 6600 2.4GHz, so a relatively new system (about 2 years old)

    wow, Tone, you sure you haven't copy/pasted anything from TES IV: Oblivion? because this looks even better than that game, and I already thought that game had the best forest I have ever seen

    i would prefer to keep some the possibility of overviewing the battlefield without zooming in.

    Are you talking about the alpine forest there?


    With these new forests it's difficult to give a good impression of things just with screenshots - the whole experience is very immersive. You'll generally be bringing the camera below the canopy so it feels like you're in the forest, but you'll have a reasonably good view of what's going on...particularly with this open forest.
