    Default Movie_cam instructions

Here are the instructions for enabling and using the movie_cam

    1st - patch to v1.2
Find the shortcut for rtw. Right click on it and open properties. Where you see target scroll all the way to the right. After the quote put a space and then -movie_cam It will end up

    blahblahblah" -movie_cam

Then play a custom battle (only works in custom). When the battle is over, save the replay. Next go to the main menu, load, load battle replay. When you load it, the movie_cam will be enabled.

The controls are all on the num pad

    7 -zooms in
    9- zooms out
    8 - foreward
    5- foreward
    4 - rotate left
    6- rotate right
    1 - strafe left
    3- strafe right
    2- backward
    enter - plays
    p - pause
    space- removes text and pauses
num lock - removes blue line

Thats everything I know, hope this helps aspiring pic takers!

I'll add it to the screenshot tips sticky, but you might get it it's own sticked thread in the help center.

Right click on your shortcut to RTW and at the bottom you will see properties. Click on this.
In the general tab, you will see something called Target Line, or something similar. This target line is in quotes, and the text you need to add goes after this outside the quotes.

first of all, does that mean it is only for 1.2 or all the later aswell?

i also got some pics of me trying to do it

pic 1: i right klick on the shortcutn and choose Egenskaper (properties in swedish)

pic 2: the properties screen unaltered

pic 3: the propertie screen with the -movie_cam text in the only place i can write

now, can anyone say whats wrong?

Did anybody succeed in making movie-cam work with RTW 1.5?

    All my attempts were unsuccesful.

    I made...
I added to preferences.txt line MOVIE_CAM:TRUE and of course -movie_cam to shortcut (in my case D:\RTW\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -nm -show_err -movie_cam).

At the risk of necro-posting, there are a few other commands I haven't seen posted anywhere.

Ctrl+T = "Target Cam", the camera will rotate around a set point

    Ctrl+R = "Reset Replay"

Hi guys, I just bought RTW-Gold Version on steam, and it requires some trick for movie_cam to work. Prob is I don't know what that trick is.

When you open Rome, you have to do it in your games list on steam, and then it gives you an option of either vanilla or BI. It doesnt actually run through the RTW or BI executable file. When I try to make a shortcut of such on the desktop, I modify the target field, and then doubleclick the exe, and it gets an error saying, 'Failed to find Steam' (when steams running). Even opening it through steam with these changes on the exe, it does nothing.

Please someone help, its a pain, and I can't find a way around it. Thnx. D:

    haha! A premature post!

Simply right-click the game in your games list on steam, then add a shortcut. It will appear as a page on your desktop without the logo. Modify the properties of that accordingly, and you're sweet.

    Thnx brain, *pats head*
