Peruvian Immigrant Kidnaps and Rapes Woman Gets 3.5 yrs

This chilling video shows the terrifying abduction of a woman who passed out at a Manhattan nightclub and was dragged out by a Queens construction work who took her home and raped her.
Luis Zambrano, 39, pleaded guilty last week to kidnapping and rape in exchange for 3 ½ years in jail.
The horrific night began at the Marquee Club on March 22, when Zambrano approached the woman as she lay unconscious on a couch by the bar.
Zambrano was caught on club surveillance tape trying to kiss her motionless body and then drag her to her feet.
The tape was obtained by Inside Edition to be aired tonight as part of a segment on the dangers women face in Big Apple clubs.





The woman tries to push him away, but he is too strong and lifts her off the couch.
Shortly after Zambrano manages to get her to her feet, she crumples to the ground. He then picks her up. The tape then catches him carrying her down a flight of steps at out onto the street where he puts her in a cab.
He took her back to his College Point apartment where he raped her.
Zambrano is free on bail pending his sentencing that is set for Oct. 27.
Since he is an immigrant from Peru, he will likely be deported after serving his sentence.

Unfortunately, the video doesn't show much. Prosecutors usually plea-bargain when they don't have a strong case. Plea-bargains are a part of the system and happen all the time with similar results. Without plea-bargaining, many more perps would simply walk.

But I don't think this article is posted here in the mud pit because of plea-bargaining or because of rape, otherwise this forum would be full of similar articles. It's here because it was an immigrant who plea-bargained the rape case.

i just personally think the woman should get 3.5 year of jail herself. It was not like the guy raped her at gunpoint. She left herself defenseless and extremely vulnerable by being passed out in a public area.

bad analogy, the correct one is if you struck yourself numb on the worst crime neighbour in the town while you carry all your money on your pocket, then YES, partially you are responsible for putting yourself at risk.

Personaly i think violent rape should get the death penalty. However this guy took a woman home and "date raped" her presay. I think 3.5 [which means out in 1 to 1.5 if that] was a little leinient, And just because you pass out in a club doesn't mean its your fault you got raped. Maybe he slipped something in her drink. So was he an illegal or legal immigrant? Cause if he was illegal i'd deport him back to peru.

Absolutely. You are first and foremost responsible for your own well being. Just like if you walked around in a bad neighborhood waving around a wad of twenties and then wondered why you got jumped.

If she couldn't control her drinking, then she shouldn't have gone out. Failing that, if she just had to get completely -faced and pass out, she should have gone with a friend.

Bad things do happen in clubs, they've happened all the time. It is completely irresponsible to think you can pass out there and that nothing bad could happen.

no it's not. WHat do you think are the warnings in clubs these day? Don't pass out!!! you never know who are in the club and what they gonna do to you (i am sure you have been to one before and know what's going on there right?). I am saying she is PARTIALLY responsible for her own suffering. Criminal should still be prosecuted. But victim here should also be tuaght a lesson, go through AA meeting or counseling or whatever. the criminal is STILL at fault. That's why her responsibility is partial. But what she did partially caused her own suffering. She needs to be taught a lesson.
