    Default New city -- Tripoli

So as not to distract the original thread in which I posted about Tripoli, I'll move it here.

The orginal pictures of the city:

A small Christian town near the city. Lebanon has/had a significant Christian population, and Tripoli was not an exception:

From atop some ruins, a vista of Tripoli and its surroudings unfold:

A complex around a small mosque:

My attempt to make a river: It seems like the water table has completely vanished.

A glitch I've encountered in Tripoli. The Mediterrananean Sea seems to have dried up... Any way to fix that? The sea was there at first. Maybe this explains the fact that I couldn't make a river even when I dug the deepest pit that I think it possible? I honestly can't explain it.

And finally...how would one be able to export this city to the actual strategic map? Has a way been found out yet? Or is just guesswork so far?

Custom Battle Test of Tripoli. I couldn't make it work as a siege battle, so it is just a regular old field battle.

Gates work...but in a "different" manner than normal. They don't open.

The map is smaller...a good portion of the city is not actually within the boundaries.

Also, siege artillery (The one I'm using is called "cannon") cannot be ordered to attack the city's walls, though stray shots did damage them through the course of the battle.

AI deployment was perfect, though, unencumbered by the terrain. They appeared, formed up, and attacked with their usual level of stupidity. Pikes in spear wall mode chasing gunners, etc.

The sea is still dry. By looking at this picture, one can also see how much smaller the map is...compare the edge of the map here with the edge of the map in the last picture of my first post, where the small hamlet in the distance is actually inside the borders of the map. Or very close to them, at least.

The battle finished normally. I don't know why I got a heroic victory, I only gave two orders...telling my bodyguard to enter the city (to test the gates) and charging the enemy cannon after a variety of units on fire-at-will had routed all their infantry.

An entirely different battle. This time I used nothing but Naffatun and abused skirmish mode to test pathfinding throughout the entire field. Suffice to say that everything worked perfectly...no units got stuck or started the battle in positions from which they could not move. The AI did a good job of placing its ribault unit on a ridge, too.

So...I have two questions about this whole thing.

    1. Does anyone know how to get this battle to act like a siege?
    2. Does anyone know how to make the battle map the same size as the battle-editor map?
