    Default Besieging Cities

I have not played through a campaign before (my aar campaign is my first campaign), but when besieging a East Anglian city with wooden palisade/stockade (the ones units can stand on), I noticed that I couldn't construct ladders and when ramming the gates I was completely massacred. So I am just asking why there are no ladders, and if there are do they come when you attack a stone walled city?

Thanks in Advanced , really superb mod by the way!

We do not have ladders activated in the mod. They, of course, had ladders (ropes, etc.) historically but the problem is they did not have siege towers and the RTW engine does not allow activation of ladders without the towers also becoming active...

You should have a reasonable chance to take both wooden and stone walls with a ram, but if the defender has a lot of missile troops on the walls then it's going to be tough - as it should be

the real vikings were stumped by Alfred when he told people to hide in wooden and stone forts, they lacked siege equiptment. The best thing to do in campaign is to wait it out, even for a village. If you attack, it's carnage.

For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994
