1. How historically accurate is it going to be?
2. Are all factions going to be about equally strong?
3. Will there be any units included from rs 1.5?
4. Is the roman faction going to be totally remade?
1.) As much as possible without taking away the game feeling. Our philosophy is that we'll make it as historical as possible at the start of the gam (including units and buildings for the rest of the game too), but as soon as you take control over your chosen nation, new history is written. Their wont be a scripted campaign and stuff like that, but we will include things like special traits, a civil war etc that are inspired by the real thing, but they wont be trigged by a certain date. They will be trigged by the player.
2.) In the un modfolderd camping yes, as much as possible. Factions like Sparta will occurs be weaker (only starting with one settlement) than the large ones , but they aren't a huge difference.
In the modfolderd campaign, thing will be allot harder for the faction you chosen. Your will have less starting income, higher upkeep and allot of other ting that help to create a harder challenge.
3.)No, expect the boats and maybe spies, diplomats and assassins. (we might reskin them) However all units will have new upkeep and recruitment costs as well as new stats.
4.)RS 2 isn't a upgrade for RS 1 it's a whole new game as much as MTW 2 are compared to RTW 2. All factions are totally remade from the ground up.

how quick will legions become available? and is there a process of romanizing a province you get before you can get legions out of it?
"WE WILL SMITE THE INVADERS FROM OUR SKIES! Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy, fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. And as our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities...they will know: Helghan belongs to the Helghast." -Scholar Visari
1: RS2 will be optimazed for runing in most of PC ?
2: RS2 will keep the 0 turn option ?
3: RS2 deplomacy will be better, and how ?
4: RS2 assassin chance to kill memeber familly will be greater ?
thnx for your thread apple
1. How many campaigns will there be, and what are they?
2. When will the RS team release the Roman faction preview?
3. Are all the Roman skins going to be totally original?
4. Are the Romans going to be just one faction?
5. How much scripting will there be? I hope it is not anywhere close to EB, too much scripting is what made EB bad.
6. Will diplomacy play a bigger part? Diplomacy is non-existant in SPQR, which is also bad.
7. How big will the economy bonuses be for the AI? Not too big I hope.
8. Will I be able to have RS 1.5c and RS 2.0 in the same directory? You know, without making copies of the data folder and what not, basically will they each have their own mod folder?
Thank you for your time.

How about each faction's units? Will a faction be equally strong to another Unitwise? Example: German Tribes vs the Romans. Will the German Units stand any chance in an "equalled" fight?
Thx 4 the reply
When will we see the next preview for RS2?
How many auxiliary units will we get for the Roman faction?
Does all Roman legions have a different skin, or do they have their own respective unit models for every legion? In RS 1.5, the only major difference between most legion is simply the colour of the shields. Would we see different legion wearing different helments and different variant of body armour?
Would the legions wear the Segementata armour, even though that the use of that armour isn't that widespread?
It's more or less like RS 1.5. The larges change in the roman barracks is that Rome is the only city that can recruit a Roman polybian cohort/triaria/velite. In all the otheritalic cities you can instead recruit "allied" versions of these and some aor italic troops.
1.) We try to make it playable at as many systems as possible, but you will need a little bit more power to run it than RS 1.5.
2.) Yes. RS (1.5 &2) has always been a 0-turn mod. We will however still have the option to run it with 1-turn recruitments.
3.) Diplomacy is hardcoded so there is not much we can do about it. The new victory condition should however help at some degree.
4.) Undiceded as of yet. One great thing tough is that the Ai is using allot more spies and assassins than before.
1.) One for each faction (modfoldered) and a standard one just like RS 1.5.
2.)Just before the grand release
3.) They are going to be total awesome (!) and historical.
4.) Yes.
5.) As little as possible. Also we got some awesome scripters so the code is highly optimized.
6.) That is up to the player to decide.
7.) That depends if you play in the normal campaign or in the modfoldered one.
8.) RS (as a whole) will never be modfoldered. So no you need two RTW folders if you want both.
Got to go, answer the rest later.

Yep
Compare it to the SPQR mod. Part of the challenge there was that practically everything was tailored against the Roman player, and that's what made it so difficult.
RS 2 will have a campaign like that for the Roman player... and the Greek player... and the Macedonian player, and the Carthaginian and for every other faction too (eventually).
And then there will of course be one 'standard' campaign, where everything is pretty balanced regardless of who you play, like RS 1.5

It all depends on the troops. The roman named legionaries are one of the best overall troops in the game, but they aren't daemons, you can kill them.
You should be able to defeat them with any nation if you use the right tactic.
1.)I cant tell you that as nobody in the devs know. We aren't holding it back or something, it's just that we use all of our time to get the mod ready. So the only real answer I can give you is as fast as possible and before the finale release.
2.) Many, both infantry and cavalry (ala) are very well presented in RS 2.
3.) They are paired two and two model vise but even these have differences. The span of differences in armor is huge, nearly or even all major armor used by the roman legionaries under our time span is to be seen in RS 2. Details like different shields, swords, helmets, banners and even more is included.
4.) I leave that question to Tone/Rory as I'm no armor expert.

I'm wondering about the hoplite/phalanx units.
There are overhand hoplites, there are also phalanx hoplites, and I've even hired mercenery hoplites that use pikes/very long spears. Does this reflect some kind of evolution from the hoplitic phalanx to the macedonian phalanx or am I just being silly?
1. When will we see the next preview for RS2?
2. How many auxiliary units will we get for the Roman faction?
3. Does all Roman legions have a different skin, or do they have their own respective unit models for every legion? 4. Would the legions wear the Segementata armour, even though that the use of that armour isn't that widespread?
1) Soon I hope
2) 10 auxiliary infantry cohorts, 2 different archer cohorts, 9 different cavalry Alae (for post Marians)
3) Lots of variations in helmets from coolus and early gallic types through to Imperial Gallic type F/G and Imperial Italic types, loads of different gladii shapes
4) a fair number of the legions have segmentata but there's a load with chainmail too
Also depends on which campaign you're playing - as Romans, the Roman stats are downgraded somewhat; as others, the Roman stats are significantly better.
Yes but we are working on creating signficant problems for the Roman player during their campaign with some decent legion vs legion action.4. Are the Romans going to be just one faction?
No wonder 2.0 takes up so much of the teams time, you have to make a campaign for each faction! I feel for you guys.
1) Is the Sixth Legion gonna look somewhat the same? Sorry, I was a sucker for those green shields of theirs in 1.5c . Now to the meat of my questions.
2) About how big is the filesize for this mod?
3) How are the textures for the campaign map looking? Is it enlarged from 1.5c?
4) Are the battles gonna be more like SPQR, or at least an option in the installation? The battle system in that mod seems to be the best and more realistic, since casualties are more spread out instead of individual units getting destroyed in a matter of seconds, as was the case when the Romans threw pilae in 1.5c.
5) Will it come with Force Diplomacy like last time? Regional borders invisible by default?
6) Are the Nazgul a playable unit?
7) How many factions get a civil war faction? Just the Romans correct?
8) Have you reached the unit limit yet?
Thanks in advance.
1) Everything's different, but you'll love the new shields
2) At the moment the beta download is around 2.4GB (but this will be compressed massively for the installer) and the whole RTW folder containing it takes up 8.7GB
3) We've shown you some of this already:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
4) Yes, much more like that - lethality of units is significantly lower, missile weapons are much less powerful
5) No, and yes
6) Absolutely!
7) At the moment just Rome is being worked on, but we have plans for others which will probably only get put in place once the mod is released
8) A long time ago, but we keep tweaking the odd unit here and there to make space for something.
king of mod go go go cant wait anymore
awsome map.............. may force be with you.....................
Did you guys managed to create a campaign where the expansion and decline of various factions in the game is more or less the same as what happened in our history?
Take for example, where the Romans wiped out Carthage before they expands into Northern Gaul.
Another question would be regarding Diplomacy, and whether the diplomacy of the game is more sensible than what we see in RS 1.5?
