I just tried this again on a lark (not having changed anything). Got closer than I had previously to getting this to work. The initial splash screen actually stayed up for 10+ seconds before things crashed!
La Garde recule.
Dear Gigantus:
Good afternoon from Canada! I hope this finds you and yours well.
Yesterday, I downloaded your mod, and I can't seem to get a game started. It stays stuck at the "Select Faction" screen and won't start a game. I have to keep rebooting my computer to get out of the mod.
What did I do wrong? Secondly, what can be done to enjoy your mod?
Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!
Sincerely yours always,
Indy.
The first time you start the game (press start in the faction selection screen) it will take quite some time - sometimes 10 minutes and more - for the game to start.
This is due to the map being generated. There are some settings in the game that make this a longer then usual procedure.
This will happen only the first time you start the game, so click on start, make a coffee, read a newspaper and accept my apologies.
hi gigantus
aswan_province is missing from the descr_strat.txt, although this doesn't appear to be a major issue! also there is port missing from the settlement in the extreme south-west, do you remember if this was intentional?
- The missing settlement will be created as a minimum town (no buildings, 400 pop) and will belong to the rebels, absolutely no problem.
- The port you talk about would have no counter part for trading due to the restriction of deep sea coloring. Which means developing it and building ships is a complete waste until the gun powder development which enables deep sea going ships.
ok gigantus, thanks for the swift response!
I keep getting CTD's and no sound when running the .exe file from Strategy Informer. All the sound data is 1kb for some reason as well when I checked.
I believe copying over the two data\sounds\events files from one of the kingdom campaigns will work.
I will try to rehost my version somewhere else, the upload at MegaUpload is obviously gone.
Edit: I hosted my version (includes the sound fix) at MediaFire, check the first post for links.
If you decide to use my version, run this tutorial from step 3 onward after removing the old installation and\or before installing my version.
I'm sorry but maybe one of the new links is corrupted. I just downloaded (twice) all three and when trying to install the game (thrice) the installation stops at some point and a message is shown saying the game hasn't been totally installed beacause of the following reason "mods\PDER_1.0\data\ui\unit_info\hungary\dismounted_knights_templar_info.tga: This file contains invalid data. (error 21FC)"
Any idea?
Thanks, in advance.
The links are fairly old (Feb 2010) and have been downloaded about 350 times - before I changed over to the now ill fated MegaUpload. To check which part might be affected, note down the percentage at which the error happens. The three files are fairly same sized, so a new file will start every 33% of the total installation.
Thanks for answering so quickly. The installation stops at 60% so I asume the second part must be the affected one.
Please run this tutorial form step 3 onward, just in case it has something to do with it. Don't forget to delete the M2TW folder in the VirtualStore. This will also help with any other future installations for M2TW.
Did it. Still doesn't work. I don't know... I remember intalling your version of the game more than a year ago without problems. Maybe it wasn´t on windows7, but the fact of the installation stoping and the error message makes me think it's a file issue. I'm gonna download the second file once again but ... Anyway, thank you so much for your interest.
Ok, now there's a different problem. I can't seem to run the campaign now, it lags and lags then gives me a CTD. Normally it used to run fast on my old computer, but this one...
Nice work. Thanks.
