Preview Scroll Three: The Song Dynasty

Oh I see. Hmm, it's a very good idea to use the Song era as the setting for an Asian total war. This was the tumultuous period when there were various interactions and confrontations between different great Empires in the East. I get a bit tired after relentlessly playing Warring States (Zhanguo) Total war and Three Kingdoms Total war (Chinese version only)- essentially all about long history of Chinese civil war. All under heaven is really an ideal Oriental version of Medieval Total War.

It actually seems to have no more affect on my machine then vanilla. In fact the lack of feedback loops in the ai means it runs pretty well. I have a macbook pro with bootcamp XP, which means it burns somewhere in the region of 100ºC at its hottest and 80ºC-90ºC on average while gaming. I don't have settings at the max but it's grand. The most taxing part of Med2 is the scripting.

The ShenBiNu were not previewed, but I am working on them and the ZhugeNu militia. We'll reveal them at some point in the future.

does ShenBiNu mean mongols (Menggu Zu) and ZhugeNu mean gunpowder? is japan in the game?

Nu = crossbow in Chinese

ShenBi = gods arm. the Shen Bi Nu was basically a arbalest. the super heavy crossbows that could shoot for about half a KM and pretty much pierce anything with a direct hit.

Zhuge Nu is basically the Cho Ko nu you see in the age of empire series. though in real history they were rarely used a field weapon during the Song, not enough penetrating power or range. but for defensive purpose or against unarmored guys they're alright.

Yes, the Jin dynasty will have most of the great wall during this time span, though the pictures you posted, both construction and battle wise, is entirely from the Ming dynasty (can easily tell from the Brigandine armor both side is wearing and the triple barrel hand gun the Ming troops is holding.)
