"Literally thousands of biographies of Napoleon have been written. It is said that Napoleon is among the top three subjects for biographies (the others being Lincoln and Lenin). Jill Hamilton has written a brief biography of Napoleon that gives special emphasis to the story of Napoleon's horses, especially the Emperor's most famous steed. The book is really Hamilton's search for the historical reality behind the myth of a horse named Marengo.

Well, somehow I don't think 10-18 horses will be dying under Napoleon in N:TW, based on E:TW horse:rider death ratio.

The most casual research would have Napoleon astride a grey Arabian as his signature mount......so......is this an indication of CA's professionalism / care re. detail .......or are they playing with our minds.........?

I always loved this painting of Napoleon`s horse. James Ward, Marengo,1824.

"The English painter could not have given a more apt or dramatic depiction of Napoleon`s fall from power than in this psychological image of his tragic fate. Marengo was Napoleon`s horse. We see it fretting to and fro, trembling on the brink, as it looks out over the sea for its lost rider. The animal`s emotional state mirrors the catastrophic events. Lonely, riderless, and unsaddled, the stallion`s fear is visible in its, the restless unease expressed in every muscle of its body. The distant horizon present under the darkening evening sky, into which the former world conquerer has had to flee, leaving his faithful steed behind, is the metaphor in the painting for the historic event."
