    Default RTW - Alienware

Ok so i just baught a new alienware computer called Area-51 X58 the specs being:

    Intel Core I7-950 3.06 GHz 8mb cache
Single 1,792 mb nvidia Geforce GTX 295
    6gb DDR3 SDRAM 1333Mhz
    Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)

In terms of the total war series (rtw md2t, etw) how well do you think this can run it? And I'm not much of a computer expert so I left stuff out because it was huge list and i put in things I thought would be important to know so just ask me about anything else on the computer i might have left out.

let's put it this way, you can probably run crysis at full graphics level.

true, but that wont be for a while. Usually people get extra gigs if they run more then 1 client of a high tech game, but that is just asking for your card to be overheated.

so am I, but its only memory hungry if you have all the BS protection and new tech on. I only got it so it can run Direct X 10 games, I can still easily make it XP style.

    wow
True the 6 gigs might not be worth it but it will be once more high-end games come out. besides a two gig ram stick is only about 40$ at least where i live.

Ok, instead of telling us about this monster computer, why not post some benchmarks and screens of HUGE custom battles so we can see how fast it really is.

    It. Is. An. Alienware. X58.
That's the kind of monster that keeps me out of my sleep at night.

When you buy a computer like that, you should expect it to run Total War at highest settings. Smoothly.

So "It will blast through." is probably the answer.

Enjoy the beast, and post some screens

you should. That one up there cost me 1700$ so if you can shell out the cash it should be more then worth it compared to the other 6000$+ computers on the market these days

pff RTW? these babies can run ETW full stacks of 8 armies on huge, but you might want to turn your comp off about an hour later so your graphics card doesn't melt away.

Isn't Alienware actually a bad idea? I considered getting one a long time ago,but heard horror stories everywhere-on and off line-about the service and the systems themselves. Random crashes,BSDs,boot up problems...whatnot nightmares. I'm usually not put off by criticism because there's always more than on POV,but this sort of feedback was so disheartening that I gave up. Thinking of assembling one come Oct (same specs as your baby, there).

Yeah etw has multi core support, rtw doesn't. This means that even though rtw is older and less resource hungry, it could actually run worse than etw given a situation where there are lots of troops and the cpu is the bottleneck.

I should get mine in about 2 weeks since its costume. Its not good as yours because its a 08 model, and my PSU is only 800W, my motherboard is also the older version of yours.
