The Romani preview has finally arrived!
Needless to say EB, the work is exquisite.
1. Since The Italo-greek helmets were a "mock up of the Corinthian helmet", they point to phalanx-type soldiers, which were the Triarii, although the IG helmets lived on, AFAIK till Early Empire period, used by the cavalry.
2. From top to bottom - early gladius hispaniensis, Celtico-Iberian in origin; Kopis, Greek in origin(the falcata is Hispanic in origin and I'm prepared to guess the Romans already knew the kopis, when they came in contact with the falcata); classic xiphos, Greek.
3. Clipeus/Aspis, aka hoplon, scutum and parma.
4. Aspis used by Triarii, scutum by hastati and principes and the parma was issued to the cavalry and maybe the velites and the earlier skirmishers(But I'm not prepared to bet any part of my anatomy on the velites getting the parma)
5. I'd have to guess, that the upper left helmets were those of principes since the hastati supposedly could afford the basic coolus or montefortino types and nothing fancy, while the lower right... I'd have to say triarii, although it might have been the Equites
P.S. Thank you for the EB mod. This is actually the first mod I've played, that lets me learn something new. I sometimes stop playing and start clicking the descriptions of the units and buildings to read the historical part.
P.S.S. The post above me has a sweet sigIs that Gemma 34E Whatshername, that shot some CGI scenes for the Red Alert 3?

This looks absolutely superb guys. A lot of work is obviously going in to this. Are you having any luck with the battlefield graphics?![]()
WOW!!!
I wonder if Sig from PI has seen this yet?, great to see if you's guys can work together. me included. If Romulus - PI - EBII can be all of the same high standard, we'll be able to cover the Roman era with 3 mods.

GREAT IDEAS for ROME 2
====================
(1) Sub Factions per Nation
*Rome - Etruscan, Sabine, Samnite, greek cultural regions
*Selecuid - Syria, Persian etc cultural regions
*Ptolemaic - Egypt, Levant, etc cultural regions
(2) Roman Laws
* Change Rome everytime you play by the laws you enact.
(3) New Diplomat Agent - Leader of the Poor
* Negoiate with the have-nots to change egalitarism in your society
Nah, the only part where the Roman name is asked is on question III (shields).
It wouldn't be very exact to ask for roman names for the swords since they called most of their models either gladius, ferrum or spatha, all generic names.
Hi,
Just SU-PERB !
Fantastic work !
I can't wait to play this mod.
Yep I stand corrected - Bottom sword is a xiphos. Top sword I don't know exactly butprobably the earlier Gladius Hispaniensis. I've searched so far and have seen it elsewhere, but don't know it's name yet.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
- Flavius Vegetius Renatus (in Epitoma Rei Militari, ca. 390)
awesome...totally awesome
Question:I think they are triarii
the sword that stays in the middle may be a greek machaira.. for the other answers, I'm not sure enough to answer...
Nice work guys!
What about the battle map buildings?
