The Mauryan Army was the army of the ancient Mauryan, a kingdom in India.
I'm not so sure about the army but it was mostly focused around the Elephant. There were bowmen with swords, auxilia, but I'm not to sure on the details.
Ramareddy knows a lot about this though.

I am definately sure there is a very well preserved description of Asoka's last campaign. I just cannot remember where. From the top of my head - elephants with towers and two soldiers inside (plus the mahut). The soldiers armed with bow/javelin. The mahout with a long spear with a hook at the end. Archers - armed with long, simple bamboo bows. No armour. Swordsmen - with the large, curved slashing sword and wicker shield. No armour. Not sure about spearmen. Light cavalry with spear,sword and wicker shield. And the Radjput(?) cavalry - somewhat better armed and armoured. Sorry for lacking details.
