Why cant i save games at first?

each time i start a new campaign with any faction on extended realism i find that i cant save game as the buttons are greyed out and then some times after a while i can suddenly save the game. thing is also my computers weird and exists to the desktop sometimes wen theres too much lag on the pc and so i loss a lot of data as i would normaly save the game before i entre a battle because of this problem.
does anyone know how i can fix this save game problem?

This happens to me sometimes too.
Hit the escape button. The menu will pop up and it ought to let you save a game the second time around.
Thats what happens with me.

doest work for me. its still greyed out till i seem to get so far in a campaign wen it once again suddenly lets me save. thanx anyway.

Sometimes you have to hit end turn, then start your campaign over again.
Its irritating, but you can usually get it to save your game.

Solution 1: press Esc., klick on "?" in the game options, the advisor will pop up, close it by klicking on he´s face, cansel the options, press Esc. again - you should have the save/load option agains.

Solution 2: Quit the whole game, not only your current campaign, and return to desctop. Start the game again and see if it helped.

Solution 3. Exit your current game, but don´t quit the game to desktop, start a new campaign ( try a provintial one, if the main one still wouldn´t let you save/load ).

The whole thing is about activating your 4tpy ( four turn per year ) script. Allways let advisor activated ( low settings should be enough ). Only dismiss the advisor by klicking at his face, not by hitting the "x" button.
Allways klick on one of your cities once you´ve started a new game or loaded the old one, so that the script can be properly activated.

If you would search a bit on the forums you would have seen many of those tips in the threads concerning bugs or problems ( even your second posting in another thread is just 4 postings away from some of those

).

Btw: i know, it´s not as essential as information about the mods etc. but so many people seem to encounter this particular problem, that some of this tips could be summed and made as a sticky, imo.
