    I suppose that similar to how ETW is "an 18th century flavor", HOI3 is a "WWII era flavor" game. It is funny to me that I have the USA in 1937 drifting quickly towards the Axis. Apparently Lindbergh has more influence than I thought.

    Poland just joined the Allies.

    Japan is falling apart.

    I haven't even started annexing anything (other than reoccupying the Rhineland) and I already have all categories of production and resources at a positive growth.

    I think it gives you a starting point (like ETW does in 1700) and just runs away from reality at the start. Still, its fun to learn how it works and it will get patched and modded.
    Don't blame me, I voted for Pedro!

    Why yes, Siam did indeed join the Allies in 1937, just like in my game!

    I just got Hungary to join the Axis with Italy and Germany, but have to do the Anschluss to get Austria. Its 1938, but I apparently need an "Austrian diplomatic crisis".

    I'm pouring all my tech research into Industry, Infantry and Armor. I only go 2 years ahead and switch so it isn't terribly inefficient. I have a feeling the AI is no where near the tech level I'm at already. I'm avoiding war until I get the USA in the Axis.

    The game often freezes on me when exiting, so that I have to go to Task Manager to close it. Is that happening to others?

    uhm,siam allied japan in ww2

    and one question:

    can rivers be modified ?

    in every paradox games,balkans are a mess,cuz they don't get anything right

    they make River sava like this(the left one in yugoslavia)

    when in reality it should be like this,joining danube right in the midle of Belgrade

    and also Drina river is completley missing.

    those 3 rivers(Danube,Sava,Drina) made an important defensive point in Yugoslavia,and if used properly,can delay enemy advance for months,even years.

    I bought the game..... i saw it in the shop and i thought back at HOI2 and how much fun that was.

    I started a game as nationalist spain, and i won the war! But my economy is turned to crap. I have no energy left, how do i get my IC going again? I got all of spain + the colony's.

    And do i drop the last 3% of neutrality so i can join the axis? I already have my spies at work, but it does not hurry up!

    Align with Germany; once you are close to Axis enough they would accept you.

    By the way, neutrality is actually quite easy to drop once you have 10 spies working on it - about 10% drop each year. Combine with increasing threat, a 30 to 40 neutrality generally enough to start a war.

    the germans were not stoped because those positions were not used well
    and according to the Yugoslav war plan,the army was to retreat in bosnian mountains,and behind those rivers,but since the mobilization was a failure,because of many factors,germans steamrolled us in 2 weeks.

    and those river were rappresented well in hoi2,why not in hoi3 ?

    and you forget that we halted 3 austrian offensives in ww1 ?

    Battle of Cer
    Battle of Drina
    Battle of Kolubara

    Ya, not even Italians are stopped by those river...
    what italians have to do with those rivers ?

    I'm gonna go ahead and copy my question from another board because :effort:.

    Okay...I'm having some difficulty with this event chain here. It probably has something to do with the fact that I've been drinking since noon, but whatever.

    Code:
    ###########################
    #Release of Colonies TRIGGER
    ############################
    country_event = {

    	id = 11113

    	is_triggered_only = yes

    	title = "Colonies Released"
    	desc = "asdgadhg"
    	picture = "fire"

    	option = {
    		name = "hurf"
    		ai_chance = { factor = 0 }
    		ENG = { country_event = 11114 }
    		FRA = { COUNTRY_EVENT = 11115 }
    		HOL = { COUNTRY_EVENT = 11116 }
    		duration = -1

    	}
    }

    ############################
    #British Colonies
    ############################
    country_event = {

    	id = 11114

    	is_triggered_only = yes

    	trigger = {
    		tag = ENG
    }

    	title = "UK Colonies Released"
    	desc = "safdah"
    	picture = "fire"

    	option = {
    		name = "ydhdf"
    		ai_chance = { factor = 100 }
    		release = ISR
    		release = JOR
    		release = PAL
    		release = EGY
    		release = PAK
    		release = IND
    		release = GUY
    		from = { country_event = 11113 }
    }
    }

    #################################
    #French Colonies
    #################################
    country_event = {

    	id = 11115

    	is_triggered_only = yes

    	trigger = {
    		tag = FRA
    }

    	title = "FRA Colonies Released"
    	desc = "dkgasdga"
    	picture = "fire"

    	OPTION = {
    		NAME = "DSGASD"
    		AI_CHANCE = { FACTOR = 100 }
    		RELEASE = SYR
    		RELEASE = LEB
    		RELEASE = IDC
    		FROM = { COUNTRY_EVENT = 11113 }
    }
    }

    ################################
    #DUTCH COLONIES
    ####################################
    COUNTRY_EVENT = {

    	ID = 11116

    	IS_TRIGGERED_ONLY = YES

    	TRIGGER = {
    		TAG = HOL
    }

    	TITLE = "Dutch Colonies Released"
    	DESC = "FAHDFHH"
    	PICTURE = "FIRE"

    	OPTION = {
    		NAME = "DASDAHFD"
    		AI_CHANCE = { FACTOR = 100 }
    		RELEASE = INO
    		FROM = { COUNTRY_EVENT = 11113 }
    }
    }
    When I fire the thing from whichever country, it just immediately pops back up. I put the duration = -1 thing in there hopeing that maybe that has something to do with it, but there was no change. The event works, as in, it releases all of those countries, but the window ( the 11113 window that says the others will happen) just continuously pops up. Maybe add the duration bit to all of them?
    Bleh. Any ideas? I should just start an HoI3 modding thread.

    Yeah. Right now, it looks like this:

    Code:
    ###########################
    #Release of Colonies TRIGGER
    ############################
    country_event = {

    	id = 11113

    }

    		set_country_flag = released_colonies
    		ENG = { country_event = 11114 }
    		FRA = { COUNTRY_EVENT = 11115 }
    		HOL = { COUNTRY_EVENT = 11116 }
    	}
    }
    I have no idea why it keeps repeating.

    My brother is playing a messed up HOI3 game right now as russia.

    Japan has defeat/annexed china.

    Hungary has taken control of all the nations they are neighbors to + bulgaria

    Germany has conquered England.

    I want him to send me this game as a memento of rarity.

    No clue MadBurger, honestly I haven't dug all that deep into the files of Hearts of Iron 3 yet to really have an understanding on how it works. One thing you can try is this...

    name = "hurf" #Ok
    Looking through the HoI 3 event and decision files real quick leads me to the impression that the "#ok" is the wording used for the click options on the description box, with you leaving that out I'm not really sure what that would do as an effect.

    If you want you can package up the script and and send it to me and I'll help you dig down for the problem, much easier to work with when it's in my hands then it is guessing from text. But add in that #ok first as that is the one thing that really differs from your event script and theirs.

    Naw all that is is what shows on the box thing you click. So in this case, it says "Hurf" for that option, instead of...."Okay," or whatever. That #ok is just a commented out part from the guy who wrote the event telling you which option is which, since their name files are something like "EVTOPTA5037," which appears to direct you to something that says "Continue the investigation." That's from event 5037 in the politicalevents.txt file (down toward the bottom), in case you're curious where I got that.

    There's the whole thing. I just threw it in at the bottom of the events\politicalevents.txt file. Surrender.txt would work as well. Hell any of those event files would work, I imagine, if you're so inclined. There's just no randomevents file like in HoI2, and the other old engine games.

    On thing I was considering was just making it a decision instead of an event triggered with the console. I'd have to look and see how to ensure the AI doesn't "click on it" though.

    Must say I'm stumped here MadBurger, not really sure why you're having that problem. Maybe head over to the Paradox forums and ask there if you haven't already?

    I really need to sit down and learn how HoI 3 is built, just haven't had the time yet. As for making it into a decision and keeping the AI from initiating the decision, again with just a quick glance over there's something in the decision files called
    ai_will_do = {
    factor = 1
    }
    I'll edit the Spanish Civil War file tomorrow and do a couple of quick runs and see if that really does have any effect on the AI initiating the decisions or not.
