    Default Disloyalty buildings

I know that some buildings, such as wrong temples etc will lower the loyalty of a conquered city, I have just taken over the whole of Sicily but a couple of cities have a load of troops still in them but loyalty is still a problem. I noticed Syracuse has a Greek Monument - so it grants loyalty, but does it have an opposite effect if it is for a conquered nation? Would I gain loyalty by destroying it? I'm a little reluctant to do so if it lowers loyalty too much - it's not great now. Other's are Royal buildings, if I destroy them I lose the ability to generate troops there. I've only owned Sicily for 5-6 turns so I realise it may improve over time anyway.

    Thanks.

Incidentally, are there no named Legions in Sicily at all? Looks like not.

The Monuments are a mixed bag. I think that if you capture a city of another culture (for example, in your case, you took one from the Greek culture) and it contains a monument, you'll get a penalty. However, if you were Macedonian (also Greek culture) and you took one from the Greeks, it would have no negative effect.
As for destroying buildings of another culture in general, I tend to avoid it. Most of the time, you have to destroy 2 or 3 buildings to get 5% less culture penalty: generally not worth it IMO.
This is based on personal experience...

If you're only there for 5-6 turns, there's probably still a lot of unrest in those cities. That will decrease over time, so I'd sit tight and pray or something

And no, there are no named legions in Syracuse. Unless I've got it really wrong.

I destroyed it and the Lyceum and something else (can't recall off-hand), it didn't improve loyalty but it didn't make it any worse. Looks like it's sit tight with a large garrison for a bit. The 3 cities closest to the Italian mainland have horrible loyalty, the other 3 are fine. It's taken probably 20-30 turns to get Massilia more loyal too so guess it's just going to be the same. I guess when I get more Roman upgrades in those cities they will slowly come around.

    Not quite. The quote is:
