It is the year 1223.
After long civil wars between the Rajput clans, two dynasties divided northern India and Hindustan between them. The Chauhans rule the northern part up to the Himalaya, with Dehli as their capital and the Solankis control the coast, with Dhar as the capital. The border lays in the middle, right in the jungle. Allthough their was a lively exchange of trade both empires waited for a good situation to swallow the other and unite all Hindus in northern India.
It were the Solankis who made the first move. A young general called Jayavarman the Ugly, by the those who have seen him, marched with an highly trained army into Chauhan territory and anhilated the whole Chauhan standing army in one giant battle. The allmighty gods cursed him with his outer appearence but blessed him with tactical skill. In the age of 19 he was the best general the whole Solanki Empire had to offer.
But the Chauhans recovered surprisingly well from the blow Jayavarman delivered them.
In their capital, the mighty castle of Dehli, they supplied huge armys and send them on Solanki ground.
Taking the initiative, the master of Dehli ordered a big counter offensive on the enemy border regions.
The Raja of Dhar knew that his cities at the frontier couldnt resist much longer. Chauhan troops pushed deep into his lands and attacked even coastal regions. The trade broke together and the money suplly was threatened. He ordered the best general Jayavarman the Ugly to rebuild his army and make an supprise attack on Dehli. The young Solanki answered the Rajas call, gathered a huge army and layd siege to the Chauhans capital. The rumour spreaded through whole India. "Dehli is under siege!" Many chauhan soldiers stopped their opperations against the Solankis and retreated, to help rescue their beloved capital.
But only a small force was quick enough to help in the coming battle.
The two best generals in the whole region faced each other in an battle, whose outcome will decide the fate of India!
Jayavarman the Ugly watched the walls of this old and somehow magic castle. "History was made here and I will make history today", went through his head.
The first wave attacked. They would ether brake the gate or take the walls or both. But the chauhans showered them with arrows killing many.
But despite heavy losses the first Solanki soldiers stepped on the walls of Dehli.
The master of Dehli, Jagdeva Suryavanshi, knew that his first line of defence was in danger and send reenforcements to the outer walls.
On the walls a bloody battle started. Rapjut versus Rapjut, Hindu versus Hindu. But the Chauhan swordsmen fought not only for their live, but also for their kingdom. In rage the sloughtered their solanki enemys.
Motivated by this early victory, one unit stormed out of the gate and and attacked the coming battering ram.
But their maddnes was not helpful for the defence. The gates were open and Jayavarman quikly ordered one of his elephant groups to storm into the town.
This decision proved to be a big mistake.
His expensive and loyal elephants were encirceld by hordes of chauhan elite troops and one after another was brought down.
Fearing he might loose the gate the young and short tempered general orderd his second much bigger wave to attack and take the outer walls.
The elephants finaly routed and stormed out of the castle, trempling many soldiers of the following wave under their feeds. This was not what Jayavarman had expected and first thoughts of doubt came into his mind.
But the attack had to continue, his soldiers slowly gained ground and fought their way into Dehli.
He gave the task to pursue the retreating defendors, to the remaing elephants who gathered outside of the gates.
And again they would disappoint him. The chauhans fought with so much courage and anger that even the mighty Solanki elephants could not brake them.
Finaly a bridgehead had been gained and Jayavarman the Ugly marched with main army into Dehli!
While on the walls, the fighting continued.
But the attack had to continue. A troop was gathered to brake into the inner circle, which was held by the master of Dehli, his son and some footsoldiers.
The attack was unsuccsesful, time was running out for Jayavarman. By the end of the day the Chauhan army will arrive. He had to capture Dehli in time or die.
He hadnt even stopped the chauhan defenders on the outer walls.
As quick as possible he threw every remaining siege equipment against the mighyt walls.
Behind these walls hell waited for the Solanki soldiers.
When the gates were breached the Chauhan reenforcements where almost there.
"Every Solanki soldier who can walk has to storm the core of Dehli! For India! For Jayavarman the Ugly!"
The chauhan elite fought desperatly from the back of their elephants, put masses of quick riders encirceld and killed them fast.
The core of Dehli has fallen, the master of Dehli is dead, Solankis control the inner circle!
These news spread like fire throu the castle and the remaining resistance surrenderd.
Deeply impresed by the chauhan skill and bravery Jayavarman the Ugly released all prisoners and released the following order to his soldiers:
"The gods were on our side, we haven taken Dehli for our Raja! But any attemp of looting will be punished with death! We wont touch one inhabitant of this great castle nor Dehli itself"
Dehli has fallen...
Jayavarman the Ugly was victorious...
The future of India has changed forever...
